충남 계룡시가 병해충 피해를 줄이고 안전한 딸기 생산 기반을 조성하기 위해 추진한 ‘딸기 병해충 종합관리 시범사업’이 의미 있는 성과를 거둔 것으로 나타났다.
시는 지난 1일, 시범사업에 참여한 딸기 재배 농가들을 초청해 성과 평가회를 열고 사업의 효과를 공유하는 자리를 마련했다. 이번 사업은 전문 방제 업체의 정기적인 병해충 관리 서비스를 통해 딸기 농가의 생산성과 품질을 동시에 높이기 위해 추진됐다.
이날 평가회에 참석한 한 재배 농가는 “올해 병해충으로 인한 피해가 눈에 띄게 줄어 딸기 농사가 한결 수월해졌고, 수확한 딸기의 품질도 확실히 향상됐다”며 사업 참여에 대한 높은 만족감을 드러냈다.
계룡시 농업기술센터 관계자는 “단순히 병해충 피해를 줄이는 데 그치지 않고, 농약 사용량 감소로 인한 농약 중독 예방 효과, 작업 시간 단축, 그리고 농산물의 안전성 향상 등 다양한 긍정적 결과가 도출됐다”며, “앞으로도 지속가능한 농업 환경을 조성해 시민들이 안심하고 소비할 수 있는 고품질 농산물을 생산하는 데 힘쓰겠다”고 밝혔다.
이번 시범사업은 계룡시가 지속적으로 추진해 온 ‘친환경·고품질 농산물 생산 지원 정책’의 일환으로, 농가의 실질적 부담을 줄이고 과학적 농업 기술을 현장에 적용한 성공적 사례로 평가받고 있다.
