지금 하는 걸 보면 한국 보수는 사실상 끝났다. 김문수와 한덕수가 동지애를 발휘해 단일화를 했다면 반전을 맞을 수 있었지만. 아쉽게도 거꾸로 갔다. 이제 보수는 다시 고쳐 쓸 수도 없다. 역설적이게도 한국 보수는 이번 기회에 완전히 무너져 버려야 다시 세워 올릴 수 있다.
제로 베이스에서 다시 시작해야 한다.
이번 사태를 보며 느낀 건 한국에 보수는 존재하지 않았다. '보수'라는 이름을 팔아 젊은 영혼들에게 들러 붙어 철저히 이윤을 챙기는 보수 유령들만 있었을 뿐이다. 보수가 연체동물이라고 지적했지만 그렇게 보수를 연체 나아가 유체로 만든 사람들은 따로 있었다.
바로 하드라이너들이다. 문제는 그 하드라이너들과 때로는 공생관계였다가 묵시적 협력 관계를 유지하는 식으로 자신들의 사익추구에멘 여념이 없는 정치 거간꾼들도 많다. 양비양시론으로 들리겠지만. 단일화는 하는 게 맞지만 그렇다고 새벽에 기습적으로 후보를 내치는 방식으로 교체하면 그게 민주주의일까 싶다. 민주주의를 지향한다며 태도가 민주적이지 못하면 그건 모순이다.
물론 김문수도 문제가 있다. 소신과 청렴함은 높게 평가하지만 지지율 열위를 어떻게 극복할 건지 아무런 대안을 내놓지 못했고 그 주변 인사들의 권력욕이 단일화에 고추가루를 뿌린 것으로 보인다. 한덕수에게 '윤심'이 쏠렸다는 주장도 꼭 맞지 않다. 호남 분들 중에 진심으로 그리고 순수한 마으믕로 한덕수를 지지하는 이들도 많다. 한덕수를 무조건 '윤심'이라 폄하하는 건 그들의 순수한 마음을 무시하는 처사다.
어쨋거나. 한국 보수는 저질 슬랩스틱 코미디다. 지난 계엄 때부터 한국 보수는 완전히 얼이 나갔다. 분열과 괴멸적 타격을 막기 위해 많은 이들이 단합을 외쳤지만. 모두 허사였다.
명분이 없었기 때문다. 민심도 싸늘했다. 그 와중에 터져 나온 윤통 측근 변호사라는 김 모씨의 욕설 녹취는 정말 충격이자 경악이었다.
게다가 이젠 일방적인 후보교체. 물론 한덕수의 경쟁력은 인정하지만. 이런 식으로 일방적으로 후보교체를 해버리면. 무슨 명분이 실릴까 의문이다. 이번 대선은 해보나마나다. 이제 보수 회생 방안은 딱 하나다. 성을 비우라는 거다. 이제라도 승리에 집착하지 말고 원칙과 기본으로 돌아가는 거다. 어차피 이런 식으로 해서는 대선 콜드 게임이다. 그럴 바엔 민주당이 성 안에 들어 해보라고 하는 거다. 또 말하지만 이재명이 집권해도 그 앞에 꽃길만 깔려 있는 건 아니다. 차라리 성 밖으로 나가 보수 진영을 정비하고 전열을 가다듬는 것이다. 보수가 뭔지 다시 생각해볼 때다. 허망하지만 다시 묻자. 보수가 뭘까.
반공주의가 보수일까? 반공주의는 너무나 당연한 말이다. 대한민국 국민이라면 모두가 공감해야 할 말인 것이다. 물론 너무나 당연하기에 그걸 공감하지 않는 이들도 많다. 문제는 '반공주의'에 대해 전략적 실효성을 물으면 친공으로 모는 태도다. 그게 문제다. 지금 국힘 내 하드라이너들 대부분이 바로 그런 반공주의와 'x갱이'란 말을 입에 달고 다니고 있다.
보수는 이제라도 좀 더 유연해질 필요가 있다. 더 폭 넓은 지지를 얻기 위해서다. 소신도 좋지만 지지도 필요하다. 지지를 얻지 못하는 정당은 존재할 이유도 없는 것이다.

Looking at what is happening now, Korean conservatism is virtually over. If Kim Moon-soo and Han Deok-soo had shown camaraderie and unified, it could have turned around. Unfortunately, it went the other way. Now, conservatism cannot be rewritten. Ironically, Korean conservatism must completely collapse this time in order to be rebuilt.
We must start over from zero.
What I felt while watching this situation is that conservatism did not exist in Korea. There were only conservative ghosts who sold the name of 'conservatism' and clung to young souls to make a thorough profit. Although I pointed out that conservatism is a mollusk, there were other people who made conservatism into a mollusk and even a fluid.
They are the hardliners. The problem is that there are many political big shots who are busy pursuing their own selfish interests by maintaining a symbiotic relationship with those hardliners and then maintaining an implicit cooperative relationship. It may sound like a two-faced theory. It is right to unify, but if you suddenly replace the candidate at dawn, is that democracy? If you say you are pursuing democracy but your attitude is not democratic, then it is contradictory.
Of course, Kim Moon-soo also has problems. His convictions and integrity are highly regarded, but he has not come up with any alternatives on how to overcome his low approval ratings, and it seems that the power-hungry people around him have sprinkled chili powder on unification. In any case, Korean conservatism is a low-quality slapstick comedy. Since the last martial law, Korean conservatism has been completely out of its mind. Many people have called for unity in order to prevent division and devastating blows, but it was all in vain.
It was because there was no justification. The public sentiment was also cold. In the midst of all this, the recording of the swearing by Mr. Kim, a lawyer close to Yoon Tong, was truly shocking and astonishing.
In addition, now it is a unilateral candidate change. Of course, I acknowledge Han Deok-soo’s competitiveness. It is to empty the castle. Now, stop obsessing over victory and go back to principles and basics. If we do it this way, it will be a cold game for the presidential election. In that case, the Democratic Party should go inside the castle and try. I will say this again, even if Lee Jae-myung takes power, it will not be a smooth road ahead. It would be better to go outside the castle and reorganize the conservative camp and regroup. It is time to think again about what conservatism is. It is absurd, but let’s ask again. Is anti-communism conservatism? Anti-communism is such an obvious thing. It is something that all citizens of the Republic of Korea should agree on. Of course, because it is so obvious, there are many who do not agree on it. The problem is that when you ask about the strategic effectiveness of 'anti-communism', they treat it as pro-communism. That's the problem. Most of the hardliners in the People's Power Party right now are talking about exactly that kind of anti-communism and the word 'x-gang'.
Conservatives need to become more flexible now. This is to gain broader support. Convictions are good, but support is also necessary. A party that doesn't gain support has no reason to exist.
Along with the martial law, the biggest failure of Korean conservatives is trying to teach the people. Now is the time to abandon the castle and go outside. He is currently a professor in the Department of Trade at Kunsan National University.
