브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 신동욱 국민의힘 중앙선대위 대변인은 14일 "도덕성보다 능력이라는 윤여준 위원장의 발언에 묻고 싶다. 지도자의 덕목 중 도덕성보다 중요한 것이 과연 무엇이냐"고 꼬집었다.
신 대변인은 이날 논평을 통해 "윤여준 민주당 상임총괄선대위원장이 '비상시국엔 도덕성도 중요하지만, 유용성이 더 중요하다'며 '그런 점에서 이재명'이라고 했다. 유독 도덕성보다 능력을 강조하는 것을 보니, 차마 이재명 후보의 인성과 도덕성을 옹호할 수는 없었던 것 같다"며 이같이 밝혔다.
그는 "이는 스스로 이재명 후보의 도덕성에 문제가 있다는 것을 인정하는 것과 다름없다"면서 "윤 위원장이 김문수 후보에 대해 '굉장히 진지하고 순박하다'고 평가하며 호감을 드러낸 점에 비춰, 일각에서는 그를 '고도의 안티'라고 비아냥거리는 목소리도 나오고 있다"고 전했다.
신 대변인은 이어 "아무리 능력으로 덮으려 해도 막말과 욕설, 사칭, 위조, 거짓말로 점철된 이재명 후보의 삶은 포장할 수 없다"며, "한 나라를 이끌 대통령에게 필요한 자질 중 도덕성보다 더 중요한 것이 무엇인지 다시 묻고 싶다. 윤 위원장의 말대로 지금이 그 어느 때보다 엄중한 비상시국이라면, 더욱 도덕성이 필요한 때"라고 강조했다.
신 대변인은 또 "도덕성은 형편없는데 경력과 전문성만 뛰어나다고 해서 훌륭한 지도자라고 할 수는 없다"며, "국민은 도덕적 결함도, 비리도, 의혹도 없이 평생을 불의에 맞서 청렴과 소신, 결단으로 살아온 김문수 후보를 선택할 것"이라고 주장했다.
끝으로 그는 "윤여준 위원장은 국민에게 도덕적 결함이 있는 인물을 뽑으라고 말하는 것이, 평생 지켜온 신념과 이념적 가치를 버리고 노선을 바꾼 것만큼이나 부끄러운 일임을 깨닫기 바란다"고 말했다.
