브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= LG유플러스는 AI 음성합성(TTS, Text-To-Speech) 기술을 통해 순직 소방관의 목소리를 복원하고, 순직 소방관의 부모님을 위한 음성 편지를 제작했다고 16일 밝혔다.
소방청은 지난 9일부터 12일까지 순직소방관의 부모 17명과 3박 4일 동안 일본 사가현으로 마음치유 여행을 떠났다. 이번 여행에는 지난해 1월 경북 문경시의 한 공장에서 화재를 진압하다가 순직한 고(故) 김수광 소방장의 부모도 함께했으며, 일본으로 향하는 비행기에서 고인의 음성 편지가 재생됐다.
LG유플러스는 공공안전종사자와 그 가족을 지원하기 위한 활동을 논의하는 과정에서 이번 프로젝트를 기획하게 됐다. 올해 LG유플러스는 자사의 다양한 AI 기술을 공공안전종사자의 안녕한 삶을 지원하는 데 활용하겠다는 사회공헌 목표를 세우고 소방청과 다양한 협업을 이어갈 계획이다.
LG유플러스는 김 소방장의 목소리를 복원하기 위해 제로샷(Zero-shot) 기반 최신 TTS기술을 활용했다. 일반적인 AI 기술로 사람의 목소리를 생성하려면 특정 인물의 목소리를 구현하기 위해 수백에서 수천 문장에 달하는 음성 데이터를 학습해야 했다.
하지만 LG유플러스가 자체 개발한 고도화된 개인화 TTS 기술은 김 소방장의 고유한 발음, 억양, 음색, 말투 등을 한두 문장만으로 분석·학습해 텍스트를 입력하는 것으로 목소리와 억양을 재현할 수 있었다.
김 소방장의 음성 편지가 담긴 영상은 소방청 공식 SNS에서 확인할 수 있다.
이명섭 LG유플러스 ESG추진팀장은 “순직 소방관들이 자랑스러운 자식으로 기억되고 이들의 부모님에게도 위로가 될 수 있으면 좋겠다”며 “LG유플러스는 AI 기술로 밝은 세상을 만들고 사회적 가치를 실현하겠다는 목표를 달성하기 위해 노력할 것이다”고 전했다.

However, LG U+'s advanced personalized TTS technology, which was developed in-house, analyzed and learned Fire Chief Kim's unique pronunciation, intonation, tone, and speech style with just one or two sentences, and was able to reproduce his voice and intonation by inputting text.
