세종시의회가 20일 제98회 정례회를 개회하고 35일간의 공식 의정 활동에 돌입했다. 이번 회기는 6월 23일까지 진행되며, 추가경정예산안 심사와 결산 승인 등 주요 안건이 집중적으로 다뤄질 예정이다.
이날 제1차 본회의에서는 유인호, 김영현, 김충식, 이순열, 김현미, 김동빈 의원 등 총 6명이 5분 자유발언을 통해 지역 현안에 대한 다양한 정책 대안을 제시했다.

임채성 의장은 개회사에서 “행정수도 완성을 위한 특별법이 국회에 발의된 만큼, 지금이야말로 말보다 실천이 중요한 시점”이라며, “세종시가 모든 역량을 총동원해 행정수도 완성에 마지막 각오로 임해야 할 때”라고 강조했다.
그는 특히 이번 회기에서 심의될 추가경정예산안과 관련해 “예산은 시민의 삶의 질과 직결된다”며 “의회는 시민을 위한 예산 편성이 실효성 있게 반영됐는지 면밀히 검토하겠다”고 밝혔다.
세종시의회는 이번 회기 마지막 날인 6월 23일 제2차 본회의를 열고 2024회계연도 결산 승인 ,2025년도 제1회 추경 예산안 의결 ,2025년도 행정사무감사 결과보고서 채택 등을 진행할 계획이다.
의회 관계자는 “이번 회기는 예산과 감사를 비롯한 다양한 정책 방향의 분기점이 될 중요한 시기”라며, “시민들의 목소리가 실질적인 정책으로 반영될 수 있도록 책임 있는 의정 활동을 이어가겠다”고 밝혔다.
