동국대 WISE캠퍼스, '성전대원장학' 장학금 5천만원 수여

【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=동국대 WISE캠퍼스(총장 류완하)가  20일 교내 백주년기념관에서 '2025학년도 성전대원장학' 장학증서 수여식을 개최하고 재학 중인 학인스님 30명에게 총 5천만원의 장학금을 전달했다.

이날 수여식에는 성전대원장학회 이사장인 대원스님(칠보사 주지)과 류완하 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 총장을 비롯한 관계자들이 참석해 자리를 빛냈다.

성전대원장학회 이사장 대원스님은 "동국대 WISE캠퍼스 학사 및 석사, 박사 과정에 재학 중인 학인스님들께 이 장학금이 불교 수행과 학문 수양에 조금이나마 도움이 되기를 바란다"며, "가치 있는 삶을 위해 묵묵히 정진하는 학인스님들을 응원한다"고 격려의 메시지를 전했다.

류완하 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 총장은 "성전대원장학회 이사장이신 대원스님께서 대한불교 중흥을 위해 WISE캠퍼스에서 수행 중인 학인스님들께 소중한 정재를 희사해 주셔서 감사드린다"며, "동국대 WISE캠퍼스는 불교 종립대학으로서 건학이념 구현과 지역의 미래 발전을 위해 최선을 다하고 정진하겠다"고 감사 인사를 전했다.

이날 장학생들을 대표해 학부 과정 선산스님, 석사 과정 동윤스님, 박사 과정 태윤스님이 장학금을 기부한 대원스님께 감사의 마음을 담은 편지를 낭독하는 시간을 가졌다.

한편, 대원스님은 지난 1990년 동국대학교 WISE캠퍼스에 전임교원으로 부임한 이래 31년간 유아교육과 경쟁력 강화와 미래 우수 교사 양성이라는 목표 아래 헌신해 왔다. 성전대원장학회 외에도 엑셀런트장학회, 사범교육대학장학회를 설립하여 현재까지 약 459명의 제자들에게 3억 7천여만 원의 장학금을 전달하며 불교 인재 양성에 크게 기여하고 있다.

Meanwhile, Venerable Daewon has been dedicated to the goal of strengthening the competitiveness of early childhood education and nurturing excellent future teachers for 31 years since he took up a full-time faculty position at Dongguk University WISE Campus in 1990. In addition to the Seongjeon Daewon Scholarship Society, the foundation also established the Excellence Scholarship Society and the Teachers' Education College Scholarship Society, and has contributed greatly to the development of Buddhist talent by providing scholarships worth approximately 370 million won to approximately 459 students to date.
