【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=경상북도 환경보건센터(센터장 이관)가 지난 6월 5일 ‘제17회 Beautiful 경주! 환경대축제’에 참여해 환경보건 홍보부스를 운영하며 도민들과 활발히 소통했다.

환경의 날을 기념해 열린 이번 행사는 시민 참여형 프로그램으로, 총 34개 기관 및 단체가 참여한 가운데 다양한 체험 활동이 진행돼 남녀노소를 불문한 지역 주민들의 큰 호응을 얻었다.
행사 현장에서 경상북도 환경보건센터는 일회용컵을 재활용해 부스를 운영하며 탄소중립 실천과 자원순환의 중요성을 직접 알렸다. 센터는 ‘우리가 만드는 환경사랑 한 걸음 함께해요’, ‘환경 지키고 건강 챙기는 체험’이라는 주제로 운영된 체험 부스를 통해 ▲나만의 에코백 만들기 ▲지구사랑 부채 만들기 등 환경유해물질 저감과 건강 보호를 위한 다양한 프로그램을 선보였다.
이관 센터장은 “버려지는 자원을 새롭게 활용하고, 실생활에서 실천할 수 있는 환경보건 교육을 통해 지속 가능한 건강한 환경 조성에 앞장서겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편, 경상북도 환경보건센터는 2024년 3월 20일 경상북도로부터 공식 지정을 받아, 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 의과대학 내에서 운영 중이다. 주요 업무는 ▲환경유해인자에 따른 건강피해 조사 및 연구 ▲예방 교육 및 홍보 ▲경북 지역 환경보건 감시체계 구축 ▲위해 소통체계 강화 등으로, 지역 맞춤형 환경보건 거버넌스를 실현하기 위한 중심기관으로 자리매김하고 있다.
이관 센터장은 “앞으로도 환경보건에 대한 인식 제고와 질적 향상을 위해 다양한 교육·체험 프로그램과 건강 지원 사업을 지속해 나가겠다”며, “안전한 환경, 건강한 경북 실현에 힘쓰겠다”고 덧붙였다.

Meanwhile, the Gyeongsangbuk-do Environmental Health Center was officially designated by Gyeongsangbuk-do on March 20, 2024, and is currently operating within the Dongguk University WISE Campus College of Medicine. Its main tasks include ▲investigation and research on health damage caused by environmental hazards ▲preventive education and publicity ▲establishment of an environmental health surveillance system in the Gyeongsangbuk-do region ▲strengthening of a risk communication system, and is positioning itself as a central organization for realizing customized environmental health governance in the region.
Director Lee Gwan added, “We will continue to provide various education and experience programs and health support projects to raise awareness and improve quality of environmental health in the future,” and “We will strive to realize a safe environment and healthy Gyeongsangbuk-do.”
