브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 국민의힘 당무감사위원회는 11일 대선 과정에서 벌어진 대선후보 교체 시도와 관련, 진상 조사에 착수했다.
당무감사위는 이날 오전 국민의힘 당사에서 회의를 열고 후보 교체 진행 당시 관계자들을 면담하기로 결정했다.
이와 관련 김용태 비상대책위원장은 이날 오후 기자들과 만난 자리에서 이같이 전하며 "저도 당시 지도부의 일원으로서 내일 (당무감사위에) 출석해서 면담 조사가 예정돼있다. 저부터 당무감사를 받겠다"고 밝혔다.
김 위원장은 이어 "당의 대선 후보를 부당하게 교체하고자 했던 과정의 진상을 규명하고 합당한 책임을 부과하겠다"고 했다.
그러면서 "이러한 후보 교체 파동은 대선 국면서 당원과 지지층에게 큰 충격을 안겨줬기 때문에 비대위원장으로서 당무감사권을 발동해 이 사건 진상을 철저히 규명하겠다"고 덧붙였다.
한편, 국민의힘은 지난 5월 10일 새벽 대선후보를 교체하는 초유의 사태가 벌어졌다. 당시 당 지도부는 11일 대선후보 등록시한을 앞두고 후보 단일화가 무산되자, 김문수 후보의 선출을 취소하고 한덕수 무소속 후보를 입당시켜 바로 당 대선후보로 등록시키기로 의결했다.
그러나 같은날 전 당원을 대상으로 진행한 ARS조사에서 후보 변경 안건은 반대표가 더 많아 부결되면서 후보 교체는 이뤄지지 않았다.
