경주시는 한국수력원자력(주)으로부터 동천 사택 200세대를 무상으로 제공받고 침구류 등 필수 물품까지 지원받게 되면서, APEC 행사에 필요한 숙소를 안정적으로 확보했다고 17일 밝혔다.
2025년 10월 경주에서 열릴 APEC 정상회의에는 21개 회원국 정상과 대표단, 경제인, 언론인 등 약 2만 명의 방문이 예상된다. 이 기간 동안 하루 최대 7,700실에 달하는 숙박 수요가 전망됐지만, 경주는 이미 민간 및 공공 숙박시설로 이를 충분히 수용할 역량을 갖추고 있다는 평가를 받아왔다. 여기에 한수원 사택 활용이 더해지면서 행사 지원 인력에 대한 별도 숙소 대책까지 완벽하게 마련된 셈이다.
