브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= KT는 본격적인 우기철을 대비해 전국 2만여 개소 주요 통신시설에 대한 종합안전점검을 실시했다고 18일 밝혔다.
KT는 폭우나 태풍으로 인한 통신재난 피해를 최소화하고, 원활한 통신서비스 제공을 위해 매년 ‘우기철 취약시설 보호 대책’을 수립한다. 전국 주요 통신시설에 대한 안전점검과 사전조치를 포함한 예방 활동도 지속적으로 실시 중이다.
KT는 이번 종합안전점검을 위해 전국 통신국사, 기지국, 통신주, 철탑 등 주요 통신 시설에 대한 배수·침수·전도·붕괴 가능성이 있는지 집중 안전점검을 실시했다.
특히, 최근 몇 년간 발생한 재난과 재해 발생 사례를 바탕으로 위험 요소별 대응 경험과 개선 사항을 분석·정리한 재난 대응 매뉴얼을 기반으로 정밀하고 실질적인 점검을 진행했다. 근로자의 추락 위험, 구축물 붕괴 우려 등 산업안전 관련 위험요소도 철저히 점검하는 등 직원 안전을 최우선으로 고려했다.
이번 점검을 통해 고지대, 해안가, 고층 옥상 등 강풍과 침수에 취약한 지역을 중심으로 전도 방지, 낙하물 대비, 누수 예방 등 실질적인 개선 조치를 했다. 침수 우려 지역의 통신시설을 고지대로 이전 설치하고, 정전 대비를 위해 이동형 발전차, 휴대용 발전기 등 긴급 복구 장비도 전국에 배치했다.
KT는 실제 집중호우와 태풍이 발생할 시 24시간 운영되는 종합상황실과 재해복구 대응반을 즉시 가동한다. 현장에는 긴급 복구팀을 출동시켜 신속한 작업을 진행할 계획이다. 자체 재난 관리 시스템을 활용해 전국 피해 시설을 실시간으로 집계하고, 복구 현황을 체계적으로 관리할 예정이다.
