세종시교육청이 특수교육의 새로운 전환점을 맞이한다.
이를 위해 세종시교육청은 6월 23일 청사 영상회의실에서 ‘세종 제3특수학교 설립 방향에 관한 정책 연구’ 착수보고회를 열고, 특수교육 확대의 구체적인 청사진을 마련하기 위한 첫 발을 내디뎠다.
이번 정책 연구는 세종시 내 특수교육 대상 학생의 지속적인 증가에 따라 제3특수학교 신설의 타당성을 확인하고, 지역의 교육 여건에 부합하는 학교 설립 방향과 운영 모델을 제시하기 위해 추진된다.
연구는 중부대학교 산학협력단이 맡아 오는 10월까지 진행되며, 세종시 특수교육 수요 분석 ,타 시도 특수학교 운영 사례 조사 ,설문조사 등 정성·정량적 데이터 기반의 심층 연구를 통해 종합적 결과를 도출할 계획이다.
착수보고회에는 박은주 유초등교육과장을 비롯해 본청 및 직속기관 직원, 특수학교 관리자 등 20여 명이 참석해 연구진의 과업 개요 발표를 듣고 의견을 나누는 시간을 가졌다. 현장에서는 특수교육 대상 학생과 학부모의 실질적 요구를 반영한 학교 모델 개발, 운영 방식의 다양화 필요성 등이 논의됐다.
박은주 과장은 “특수교육은 단순한 지원이 아닌, 배움의 권리를 실현하는 기본 조건”이라며 “이번 정책연구가 세종의 특수교육을 한 단계 도약시키는 계기가 되길 기대한다”고 밝혔다.

The Sejong City Office of Education is facing a new turning point in special education.
To this end, the Sejong City Office of Education held a commencement report meeting on the ‘Policy Research on the Direction of Establishing a Third Special School in Sejong’ in the video conference room of the office building on June 23, and took the first step toward establishing a specific blueprint for expanding special education.
