26일 전북 군산해양경찰서에 따르면 지난해 발생한 수상레저기구 46건의 사고 가운데 무려 61%에 해당하는 28건이 배터리 방전 또는 연료부족에 의한 것으로 집계됐다.
이 같은 사고는 운항 경력이 짧거나 겨울 동안 방치된 레저기구를 정비 없이 띄웠다 발생한 것으로 분석됐다.
특히 중고 레저기구를 구입한 뒤 선체나 운항 장비 상태를 확인하지 않은 상태로 바다로 나가 장비 고장을 발견하는 아찔한 사고도 발생했다.
