최민호 세종시장이 시정 4기 3주년, 새 정부 출범을 맞아 행정수도 완성을 중심으로 한 세종시 5대 비전을 시민과 함께 나눴다.
최 시장은 26일 조치원읍 세종문화예술회관에서 청년 등 미래세대를 포함한 다양한 연령층의 시민, 전문가 등 800여 명이 참여한 가운데 ‘새 정부, 새로운 세종’을 주제로 시민정책포럼을 열었다.
이어 포럼 1부 정책브리핑에서 새 정부 출범 이후 세종시가 추진할 주요 정책 방향과 비전을 직접 소개하며 우리 미래세대를 위한 시정을 펼칠 것을 약속했다.
그는 “세종시는 대한민국 발전을 위해 탄생한 도시로, 국가균형발전과 지방분권을 통한 국가경쟁력을 강화하는 중심지”라며 “행정수도 세종시 완성은 국가의 미래와 미래세대를 위한 일”이라고 강조했다.
시정4기는 ▲행정수도 완성 ▲한글문화도시 ▲박물관도시 ▲정원관광도시 ▲스마트 도시를 5대 비전으로 지난 3년간 행정역량을 집중해 왔다는 것이 그의 설명이다.
특히 행정수도 세종 완성에 대한 논의가 활발해진 지금 대통령 공약사항인 국회세종의사당과 대통령 세종 집무실의 임기 내 건립을 중심으로 행정수도 세종 완성을 위한 노력을 이어가고 있다고 강조했다.
최 시장은 “행정수도 완성을 머뭇거리는 동안 벌써 20년이라는 시간이 지났고 현재는 행정의 중심지여야 할 세종시에서 부산시로 해수부를 옮기려고 한다”며 “저출생, 지역소멸 등 더 큰 문제를 우선 살펴보아야 하지 않겠냐”고 말했다.
이어 “행정수도 세종시 완성이라는 건 단순히 국회의사당, 대통령 집무실을 세종에 이전하는 것으로 그치지 않고 국가의 백년대계를 우리가 만들고 국가의 위기를 세종시에서 극복해 나가자는 큰 의미라는 것을 여러분들이 함께 공감해 주셨으면 한다”고 덧붙였다.
또 한글문화도시 비전과 관련 행복청장을 역임했던 당시부터 세종대왕의 묘호를 딴 도시인 세종시에서 한글과 한글문화 확산 비전을 그려왔다고 설명했다.
그는 “행복청장 당시 도로, 교량, 학교, 동네 이름 등을 모두 우리말로 지었는데, 현재 이것이 호평을 받는 것을 보며 도시 비전이 틀리지 않았음을 확신했다”며 “앞으로도 한글의 세계화, 산업화에 세종시가 중심이 되어 역할을 할 수 있도록 할 계획”이라고 소개했다.
또 인공지능(AI) 시대 녹지공간과 정원 확대 필요성, 박물관 도시 조성을 통한 시민의 품격 있는 문화생활 향유, 사이버 보안 산업을 중심으로 한 스마트시티 비전 등을 차례로 시민과 공유했다.
최 시장은 “우리의 생각을 미래세대에 맞추고 국가 위기의식을 정확하게 인식하면 직면한 문제들을 해소할 수 있다”며 “제가 그런 것들을 할 때 서로 도와주고, 때로는 여러분의 힘을 빌려 세종시의 비전을 실현해 나가겠다”고 강조했다.
이어진 2부 토크콘서트에는 세종시 홍보대사인 정재환 한글문화연대 공동대표, 전인건 간송미술관장, 이상건 한국지능형교통체계협회 전문위원, 강병수 전 충남대 부총장, 김종헌 배재대 교수가 참여했다.
이들은 세종시 5대 비전 분야별 방향성과 과제를 심도 있게 토론하고 시정 운영 방안을 제언했다.
