충남 태안군이 여름철 해수욕장 개장을 앞두고 연안사고 예방을 위한 대대적인 안전 점검에 돌입했다.
이런 가운데 태안군은 태안해양경찰서와 함께 6월 20일부터 7월 4일까지 약 보름간 지역 내 사고 우려지역 60곳을 대상으로 합동점검을 실시 중이라고 밝혔다.
이번 점검은 여름철 태풍과 집중호우, 피서객 증가로 인한 해양사고 가능성이 높아지는 시기를 앞두고, 인명 피해를 사전에 차단하고자 마련됐다. 점검은 ‘연안사고 안전관리규정’에 근거해 진행되며, 해수욕장뿐만 아니라 선착장, 방파제, 갯바위, 갯벌 등 사고 취약 지역 52곳과 항·포구 8곳이 주요 대상이다.
태안군과 해경은 이들 장소에 설치된 인명구조함, 안전표지판 등의 유지 상태를 점검하고, 노후되거나 훼손된 시설물은 교체 또는 보수한다. 위험 요소가 발견된 구간은 즉시 조치하며, 안전시설이 부족한 곳에는 신규 설치도 적극 검토할 방침이다.
태안군은 특히 점검 과정에서 지역 주민들의 의견을 수렴해 지역 실정에 맞는 맞춤형 안전대책을 마련한다는 계획이다. 경미한 문제는 해수욕장 개장 전까지 조치를 완료하고, 예산이 수반되는 시설물 설치나 정비는 관련 부서와 협의해 추진할 예정이다.
