국회 APEC 특위 경주 방문… 주낙영 시장 “정부 전폭 지원 절실”

【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=국회 ‘2025 APEC 정상회의 지원 특별위원회’(위원장 김기현)가 지난달 30일 경주시를 방문한 가운데, 주낙영 경주시장이 현장에서 정부의 실질적 지원과 정책 연계를 강력히 요청했다.

이날 방문에는 여야 위원 12명을 포함한 국회 관계자 등 50여 명이 참석했으며, APEC 정상회의 개최 예정지인 화백컨벤션센터(HICO)를 비롯해 숙소, 경제전시장, 만찬장 등 주요 핵심 시설을 둘러봤다.

현장 브리핑에서 주 시장은 “경주가 ‘대한민국의 얼굴이자 창’이라는 각오로 숙박·수송·의료·경관 개선, 시민참여 캠페인 등 모든 역량을 총동원해 준비에 나서고 있다”고 밝히며, “국가 행사로서의 품격을 갖추기 위해서는 정부 차원의 전폭적인 재정 지원이 반드시 필요하다”고 강조했다.

이어 “1차 추경을 통해 회의 직접지원 예산은 일부 확보됐지만, 응급의료센터 확충, 도시경관 정비 등 기초 인프라 부문은 여전히 취약한 상황”이라며, 지방자치단체가 감당하기엔 분명한 한계가 있다고 지적했다.

주 시장은 또 “APEC이 단발성 이벤트에 그치지 않기 위해서는 ‘포스트 경주’를 대비한 정부와 국회의 지속적인 관심과 전략적 정책 연계가 중요하다”며 “경주가 글로벌 관광도시이자 지방시대 균형발전의 모델로 도약할 수 있도록 전방위 협력을 당부드린다”고 말했다.

한편 경주시는 이번 국회 특위 방문을 계기로 관계기관과의 협력 체계를 더욱 공고히 하고, 향후 4개월간 APEC 정상회의 준비에 박차를 가할 방침이다.

Meanwhile, Gyeongju City plans to further solidify its cooperative system with related organizations through this National Assembly special committee visit and accelerate preparations for the APEC summit over the next four months.
