"트라이(시도하다), 편안합니다". 옛날 남성 속옷 광고다. 편안합니다. 편안한지 어떤지 입기 전엔 모른다. 광고다. 한번 입어보고 아니면 안 입으면 된다.
외교와 동맹은 '트라이'하는 게 아니다. 한번 해보고 아니면 말고. 언론 보도에 따르면, 중국은 9월 베이징에서 열리는 ‘항일전쟁 및 세계 반파시스트전쟁(제2차 세계대전) 승리 80주년 대회’에 한국 대통령의 참석 의사를 타진하고 있다고 한다.
중국은 일본군으로부터 항복문서를 받은 1945년 9월 3일을 항일전쟁에서 승리한 전승절로 기념해오고 있다. 2015년 제 70주년 기념식에는 박근혜 전 대통령이 초청받아 참석했다. 미국의 반대에도 불구하고 박근혜 전 대통령은 기념식은 물론 열병식까지 참석했다. 그게 박근혜 전 대통령의 한계였다.
당시 박근혜 전 대통령의 중국 전승절 참석을 보고 미국은 무슨 생각을 했을까? 물론 미국 국무부는 공식적으로 한국의 주권적 사항이라고 했을 테다. 미국은 자유의 나라다. 이래라 저래라 간섭하지 않고 한국의 뜻을 존중한다고 하는 것이다.
문제는 찬성 반대 여부를 떠나서 기본적인 인식이다. 공식적인 입장과 달리 미국의 외교 전문가들은 한국 대통령의 전승절 참석을 좋게 평가할 수 없다.
생각해보라. 중국은 한국전쟁에서 북한을 도와 남한과 미국 주도 연합군을 향해 총부리를 겨누고 전쟁을 치렀다. 그리고 그 전쟁은 지금도 끝나지 않았고 공식적으로는 아직 '휴전' 중이다. 남한의 안보를 직접 위협하는 건 북한이고 중국은 북한과 동맹관계다. 한미동맹보다 조중(-) 동맹이 더 강하다. 한반도에서 그리고 동북아에서 전쟁을 방지하는 건 한미동맹이다.
전승절은 '중국군'을 '영웅'으로 기리는 행사다. 그런 전승절에 대한민국 대통령이 참석한다는 게 말이 되나. 외교 전략에서 기본은 설득력이다. 설득력은 일관성에서 온다. 한미동맹을 맺고 있으면서 중국 전승절에 참석하는 게 말이 되냐고. 중국인들은 그런 한국 대통령을 어떻게 볼까.ㅋㅋ
원하면 '시도(트라이)' 해보시라. 기억할 건 박근혜 전 대통령 때인 2015년과 지금 2025년은 세계정세가 달라도 너무 다르다. 무엇보다 당시 미국은 오바마 정부였고, 지금은 트럼프 정부다. 관세 협상도 끝나지 않았고, 앞으로 어떻게 전개될 지 아무도 모른다.
물론 중국과의 관계도 중요하다. 하지만 그건 어디까지나 물건을 사고파는 관계다. 미국과의 관계는 단순히 물건을 사고파는 관계가 아니라 한국의 '전쟁방지 메커니즘'이다. 한국 좌파는 사대주의자들이다. 조선시대 역사를 보더라도 무능하고 이기적인 사익추구형 사대부들은 중국에 조공을 바치면서 편안해 했던 거 같다. 그들이 바로 민생을 외면하고 백성들에게 백골세를 거둬 뇌물을 주고받던 탐관오리들이었다. 한국 좌파 그리고 좌편향 지식인들은 친중 사대주의자들이다. 박근혜를 중국 전승절에 이끈 것도 실은 친중국() 주의자들이다. 한국 보수 진영에도 그 유전자는 남아 있다.
하나 짚을 건. 중국의 전승절은 중국이 '파시스트'와 싸워 이긴 걸 자축하는 것이라고 한다. 포인트는 '파시스트'다. 자유의 적인 것이다. 미국과 중국. 어느 쪽이 더 자유의 나라인가.

China has been commemorating September 3, 1945, the day it received the surrender document from the Japanese military, as Victory Day, the day of the victory in the war against Japanese Aggression.
