충남 금산군이 추진 중인 아토피 자연치유마을 특화 프로그램이 아토피 피부염을 앓고 있는 어린이들과 그 가족들에게 실질적인 돌봄 대안으로 주목받고 있다.
금산군보건소는 군북면 상곡초등학교를 거점으로 지난 3월부터 매달 실시하고 있는 ‘한의학 기반 아토피 케어 프로그램’이 높은 호응을 얻고 있다고 8일 밝혔다.
이 프로그램은 아토피 환아의 증상 완화뿐만 아니라 삶의 질 개선에 기여하면서 참여 가정의 만족도가 크게 증가한 것으로 나타났다.
보건소에 따르면, 현재까지 총 120명의 아토피 환아가 이 프로그램을 통해 한의학 진료를 받고 개인 체질과 증상에 맞춘 맞춤형 첩약을 처방받았다. 단순한 의료 서비스 제공을 넘어 건강관리 교육과 심리·정서적 상담도 병행하며 아토피 환아의 전인적 건강 회복을 돕고 있다.
이 사업은 2012년 대전대학교 한방병원과의 연계를 통해 첫발을 뗀 뒤, 2023년까지 지속 운영됐다. 지난해부터는 대한한의사협회 금산군분회 소속 한의원들과의 협업 체계를 새롭게 구축하면서 지역 중심의 의료 접근성을 더욱 강화했다.
특히 보건소는 오는 12월까지 프로그램을 확대 운영할 계획이다. 기존의 진료 중심 틀에서 벗어나, 아토피에 대한 올바른 이해를 돕는 교육 프로그램, 보호자 대상 생활지도 상담, 아토피 관련 환경요인 개선 등 다각도의 지원책을 마련하고 있다.
보건소 관계자는 “한의학을 기반으로 한 통합 건강관리 접근을 통해 아토피 환아들의 삶의 질이 눈에 띄게 향상되고 있다”며 “앞으로도 아토피자연치유마을과 연계한 지역 밀착형 건강 돌봄 체계를 지속적으로 확장하겠다”고 강조했다.
한편 금산군은 ‘아토피 자연치유마을 확대·발전사업’을 핵심 전략 중 하나로 설정하고, 지역 내 자연환경과 연계한 치유 프로그램 개발에 박차를 가하고 있다. 군은 이를 통해 아토피 질환에 취약한 아동과 가족이 지역 안에서 안심하고 치료받을 수 있는 기반을 마련하는 동시에, 로컬 유학 유치를 통한 지역 공동체 활성화도 함께 꾀하고 있다.
