한국화장실문화협회는 7월10일치 보도자료에서 “행정안전부와 한국화장실문화협회는 지난 6월 25일 서울시청 별관 대강당에서 전국 공중화장실 우수 관리인에 대해 포상을 수여하고 축하하는 자리를 가졌다”고 알렸다.
이날, 행정안전부 조영진 차관보 직무대리는 격려사를 통해 “공중화장실을 가장 자주, 가까이에서 점검하고 관리해주시는 관리인 여러분 덕분에 세계에서도 칭찬받는 화장실로 국가의 품격을 높이는 일에 불철주야 노력해 주신 수상자들에게 존경과 감사를 드린다”고 말했다.

전국 최우수관리인 5명 김동욱, 김병천, 김영일, 고명순, 박동식에게는 행정안전부장관 표창이, 전국 최우수 절약실천 특별 공로상에는 김응수 배우가 수상했다. 김미옥, 최영우에게는 서울시장 표창이 수여됐다. 전국 우수관리인 172명에게는 (사)한국화장실화협회 회장 표창이 각각 수여 됐다.
지난 2000년도부터 매년 공중화장실 관리인들에게 격려와 응원을 보내고 있는 방송인 겸 교수 크리스티나 콘팔로니에리는 수상자들에게 직접 꽃다발을 전달하며 축하의 인사와 응원을 했다. (사)화장실문화협회 표혜령 상임회장은 함께 행복한 시상을 만들어 주신 행정안전부 김민재 장관 직무대리님, 조영진 행안부 차관보 직무대리님, 담당부서인 주소생활공간과에도 감사의 인사를 전했다. 이 자리에서 “대한민국 곳곳의 화장실을 깨끗하게 청결하게 아름답게 가꾸시는 모든 관계인과 관리인 분들께도 격려의 박수를 보낸다”고 강조했다.
이날 미리 준비한 화관을 쓴 여성 관리인들은 처음 써본 화관에 결혼식 하는 기쁨이라며 행사 처음부터 끝까지 화관을 쓰고 있었다. 또한 전체 참여자들은 트롯신동 홍성원의 축하무대와 이효진, 권용식 아나운서의 진행으로 모두 흥겨운 시상식을 마쳤다.

In a press release dated July 10, the Korea Toilet Culture Association announced, “On June 25, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Korea Toilet Culture Association held an award ceremony and congratulations for excellent public toilet managers nationwide at the Seoul City Hall Annex auditorium.”
On that day, Acting Vice Minister Cho Young-jin of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety said in his words of encouragement, “Thanks to the managers who inspect and manage public toilets most frequently and closely, I would like to express my respect and gratitude to the winners who have worked tirelessly day and night to elevate the dignity of our country by making it a toilet that is praised worldwide.”
The five best managers nationwide, Kim Dong-wook, Kim Byung-cheon, Kim Young-il, Ko Myung-soon, and Park Dong-sik, received the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award, and actor Kim Eung-soo received the Best Nationwide Savings Practice Special Achievement Award. Kim Mi-ok and Choi Young-woo received the Mayor of Seoul Award. The 172 outstanding managers nationwide each received the President’s Award from the Korea Toilet Association. Professor and broadcaster Christina Confalonieri, who has been encouraging and cheering on public toilet managers every year since 2000, personally presented the winners with bouquets of flowers and offered her congratulations and cheers. Pyo Hye-ryeong, the standing chairwoman of the Toilet Culture Association, also expressed her gratitude to Acting Minister of the Interior and Safety Kim Min-jae, Acting Vice Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety Cho Young-jin, and the Address and Living Space Division, the department in charge, for making this a happy awards ceremony possible. She emphasized, “I send a round of applause of encouragement to all the officials and managers who keep the restrooms in Korea clean, neat, and beautiful.”
On this day, the female administrators who had prepared the flower crowns in advance said that they were happy to be married and wore them for the first time, and they wore them from the beginning to the end of the ceremony. In addition, all the participants finished the award ceremony with excitement with the congratulatory performance by Trot prodigy Hong Seong-won and the hosting by announcers Lee Hyo-jin and Kwon Yong-sik.
