브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 윤석열 전 대통령 부부의 공천개입 의혹과 관련, 수사 선상에 올랐던 최호 전 경기도의원이 28일 숨진 채 발견됐다.
경기 평택경찰서에 따르면 최 전 도의원은 이날 오전 3시14분경 평택시 송탄동 한 야산에서 숨진 채 발견됐다. 아직까지 타살 혐의점 등은 없는 것으로 파악됐다.
한편, 김건희 특검팀은 김건희 여사가 지난 2022년 3월 대통령 선거 당시 명태균씨에게서 공짜 여론조사를 받아보고, 그해 6월 국회의원 보궐 선거와 전국동시지방선거에 개입했다는 의혹을 수사 중이다.
최호 전 도의원은 윤 전 대통령 부부가 2022년 지방선거에서 평택시장 예비 후보로 밀었다는 의혹이 있어 수사 선상에 올랐었다.
당시 그는 후보 적합도 여론조사 등에서 공재광 전 평택시장에 크게 밀리는 등 경쟁력이 없다는 평가를 받았으나 단수 공천을 받은 바 있다.
최 전 도의원이 공천을 받을 때 국민의힘 윤석열 대통령후보 중앙선거대책본부 정무특보, 대통령직인수위원회 상임자문위원을 지내고 있었다.
국민의힘 공천을 받아 선거에 임했으나 당시 정장선 더불어민주당 후보에 밀려 결국 낙마했다.
다만 특검팀은 최 전 도의원 사망 소식에 관련 "소환 등 수사와 관련해 일체의 접촉을 한 사실이 없고, 소환 계획도 가지고 있지 않았다"고 설명했다.
