아산시-순천향대, 지역 상생·동반성장 위해 손잡다

충남 아산시(시장 오세현)와 순천향대학교(총장 송병국)가 지난 29일 ‘지역 상생발전을 위한 업무협약’을 체결하며 지역 문제 해결과 미래 성장동력 발굴에 본격적으로 나섰다고 30일 밝혔다.

이번 협약은 단순한 형식적 교류를 넘어 지역사회가 직면한 현실적 과제에 공동 대응하고, 지속가능한 지역 생태계를 조성하겠다는 양 기관의 전략적 의지가 반영된 결과다. 협약식은 순천향대 본관에서 개최됐으며, 아산시와 순천향대는 협약을 통해 실질적이고 지속적인 협력체계를 구축할 것을 약속했다.

협력 범위는 광범위하다. 신산업 발굴 및 연구개발(R&D) 협력, 지역 정책개발을 위한 ‘지역융복합연구원’ 공동 운영, 청년 인턴십 연계 및 ‘내 고장 특별장학금’ 지급, 시민을 위한 대학시설 개방 등 지역사회 전반을 포괄하는 실천적 과제가 담겼다.

양 기관은 그간 지역혁신사업, 마이크로바이옴 기술개발, 충남 RISE 사업 등 여러 분야에서 협업해 온 경험을 바탕으로 이번 협약을 통해 협력의 깊이와 범위를 더욱 넓힐 계획이다.

이에 대해 송병국 총장은 “순천향대가 지금의 자리에 자리 잡은 지도 어느덧 50년 가까이 됐고, 그동안 지역사회의 관심과 사랑 덕분에 성장할 수 있었다”고 회고한 뒤, “대학은 더 이상 지역을 떠나 존재할 수 없다. 앞으로도 지역과 함께 숨 쉬며 발전하는 대학이 되겠다”고 말했다.

한편, 이날 협약식 이후 오세현 시장과 송병국 총장을 비롯한 참석자들은 순천향대 유니토피아 3D극장에서 열린 ‘아산 다문화교육 학습발표회’를 함께 참관했다. 이 자리에서 양 기관은 다문화 교육에 대한 공동 대응과 협력 방안도 논의하며, 상생의 실천을 넓혀나갈 뜻을 재확인했다.
