도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령이 1일(현지시간) 한·미정상회담 관련해 "우리는 한국과 훌륭한 관계를 갖고 있다"고 밝혔다.
미 'AP 통신' 등에 따르면 트럼프 대통령은 이날 워싱톤 DC 백악관에서 뉴저지주 베드민스터로 향하는 길에 앞서 취재진과 만나 '한국과 정상회담을 언제 하느냐'는 질의에 이같이 답했다.
앞서 지난달 30일 트럼프 대통령은 한국과 무역 협상 타결을 발표하면서 2주 내 백악관에서 한·미정상 양자 회담 개최 계획을 밝힌 바 있는 가운데 현재 구체적 일정은 실무팀 차원에서 조율 중이다.
또 브라질에 대한 50% 관세 부과에 대해 "난 브라질 사람들을 사랑하며 브라질 정부를 운영하는 사람들이 잘못했기 때문"이라며 "루이스 이나시우 룰라 다시우바 대통령과 언제든 대화할 수 있다"고 밝혔다.
이어 인도와의 무역 협상 관련 질의에 "내가 이해하기로 인도는 더 이상 러시아에서 원유를 사지 않을 것"이라며 "난 그렇게 들었고 그게 맞는지 아닌지 모르겠으나 그건 좋은 움직임"이라고 말했다.
트럼프 대통령은 인도의 러시아산 원유 수입·반미 성격 브릭스(BRICS) 참여 등을 문제 삼아 인도에 25% 관세를 부과한 바 있다.
더불어 "전날 스위스와 대화했다"며 "스위스에 당초 발표보다 높은 39% 관세를 부과한 이유는 스위스와의 교역에서 생긴 400억불 무역적자"라고 전했다.
