도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령이 3일(현지시간) '세계 각국에 부과한 관세 수익 일부를 미국민들에게 배당금 형식으로 분배하겠다'는 계획을 밝혔다.
영국 '로이터 통신'에 따르면 트럼프 대통령은 이날 워싱톤 DC 백악관에서 취재진과 만나 "배당금 지급·분배가 있을 수 있다"며 "특히 중산층·저소득층에게 배당금을 지급할 수 있다고 본다"고 전했다.
그러면서 "최근 사임한 아드리아나 쿠글러 미 연방준비제도(연준·Fed) 이사 후임을 조만간 발표하겠다"고 밝혔다.
후임 이사가 임명되면 Fed 이사진 7명 중 트럼프 대통령이 임명한 이사 수는 미셸 보먼 FED 부의장·크리스토퍼 월러 이사 포함 3명으로 늘어나게 된다.
또 "오는 8일로 설정한 우크라이나 전쟁 휴전 협상 기한이 끝나기 직전인 6일께 스티브 위트코프 중동특사가 러시아를 방문할 수 있다"고 밝혔다. 위트코프 특사는 현재 이스라엘을 방문 중이다.
