이재명 대통령의 임기는 2025년 6월4일에서 2030년 6월3일까지이다. 그런데, 이재명 대통령이 임기 시작 2개월 만(2025.8.3.)에 '정권퇴진' '권력투쟁설'이 거론되기 시작했다.
한설 예비역 장군(육군 소장)은 인터넷 저널인 페이스북 8월3일자에 게재한 “더 이상 희망이 없는 이재명, 정권퇴진 운동이 그를 도와주는 방법이 될 것” 제목의 글에서 정권퇴진 문제를 거론한 것.

이어 “우리는 지극히 당연한 질문을 해야 한다. 왜 이재명은 그 누구도 하지 못했던 완전한 미국 종속(從屬)의 길로 가고 있는가 하는 것이다. 아마도 지금 가장 위기의식을 느끼는 것은 국민의힘이 아닌가 한다. 국민의힘은 오로지 미국에 대한 종속으로 그 존재의 의미를 확보하고 있었다. 그런데 이재명과 더불어민주당이 국민의힘도 예상하지 못할 정도의 미국 종속의 길로 가고 있는 것이다. 최근 조선의 김여정이 이재명 정권과의 대화 가능성을 부정한 배경도 바로 여기에 있다고 생각한다. 이재명 정권과의 대화는 아무런 의미도 없다는 것이다. 이재명 정권은 역대 어떤 정권보다 더 충실하고 확고한 미국의 꼭두각시에 불과하다고 판단했기 때문일 것”이라며, 대미(對美)종속을 우려했다.

장성민 전 의원 “민주당 권력투쟁 조짐” 지적
한편 장성민 전 의원은 8월5일자 페이스북에 게재한 “개딸들이 개털이 되는 이재명 대 정청래의 권력투쟁” 제목의 글에서 집권 여당의 권력투쟁 문제를 거론했다. 장성민 전 의원은 이 글에서 “민주당에는 벌써부터 권력투쟁의 조짐이 뚜렷하다. 마침내 용산 대통령실과 여의도 당 간의 대결과 긴장 조짐도 보인다. 국정운영을 용산 대통령실이 주도할지, 당이 주도할지도 관심사다. 용산과 당 간의 정책 노선 차이와 긴장감도 노출되고 있다”고 전제하고 “이런 가운데 이재명 대통령은 '원팀' 플레이를 강조하고 나섰다. 이는 '투팀'에 대한 우려의 표출이다. 곧, 분열에 대한 걱정이라는 뜻”이라고 해석했다.
