최민호 세종시장이 19일 "내년 정부 예산 지출이 급증할 것으로 예상된다"며 "시정과 관련한 예산 편성에 신중을 기할 것"을 당부했다.
최 시장은 이날 시청 집현실에서 간부회의를 주재하면서 "내년도 국가 재정 운용에 큰 어려움이 예상된다"며 " 정부가 약속한 총 4,500억 달러 규모의 대미 투자와 구매"를 근거로 짚었다.
그는 “당장 향후 3년 반 동안 약 4,500억 달러 규모의 대미 투자와 구매를 해야 하는데 이는 우리나라 한 해 국가 예산에 맞먹는 수준”이라며 이 때문에 정부 예산이 경직될 수밖에 없을 것으"로 내다봤다.
또, "미국의 방위비 증액 요구나 글로벌 경제 위기 등 국비를 필요로 하는 요소들이 산재해 있는 만큼 지방으로 돌아가는 국비가 줄어들 수 있다"고 경고했다.

그는 “아무리 과학이 발달했어도 인간은 물 없이는 살 수 없다”며 “신이 준 축복 같은 수자원을 무심코 흘려보내서는 안 된다는 경각심을 갖고 담수를 확보할 수 있는 방안을 찾아야 한다”고 강조했다.
이 밖에도 최 시장은 조치원읍에서 열리는 ‘2025 한글 국제 프레비엔날레’를 앞두고 방문객들이 세종의 매력을 느낄 수 있도록 축제 인근 환경을 조성·정비해야 한다고 당부했다.
