시는 지난 19일 (사)대한한돈협회 경주시지부 회원들을 대상으로 설명회를 열고 냄새 저감제의 보급 현황과 활용 방법을 안내했다.
그동안 축산농가에서는 주로 미생물제를 활용했으나, 음수와 혼합할 경우 슬러지가 발생해 배관이 막히거나 세균 번식으로 오염되는 문제가 있었다. 또한 소독약과 함께 사용할 경우 미생물이 사멸해 살포 작업을 번갈아 해야 하는 불편도 컸다.
경주시는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 2022~2023년 양돈 농장 한 곳에서 실증시험을 실시해 효과를 검증했고, 이어 한돈협회 청년회 회원 농장 30곳에 시범 보급해 현장 적용성을 입증했다. 그 결과 냄새 저감 효과가 확인되면서 현재는 전 농가로 보급을 확대하고 있다.
이광연 대한한돈협회 경주시지부장은 “경주시에서 공급하는 저감제는 음수와 소독약에 동시에 사용할 수 있어 작업이 간편해졌고, 냄새 저감 효과도 크다”며 만족감을 나타냈다.
경주시는 앞으로도 친환경 축산 환경 조성과 시민 생활환경 개선을 위해 냄새 저감제 보급을 지속적으로 확대해 나간다는 방침이다.

Gyeongju City plans to continue expanding the distribution of odor reduction agents to foster an eco-friendly livestock environment and improve the living environment of its residents.
