브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= 이재명 대통령과 도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령이 첫 정상회담이 성공적으로 개최된 가운데, 한국 기업들이 총 1500억 달러(한화 약 209조원)에 달하는 대미 투자에 나선다.
한국경제인협회(한경협)는 25일 오후(현지시간) 워싱턴 D.C. 윌러드 호텔에서 '한미 비즈니스 라운드테이블: 제조업 르네상스 파트너십'을 개최했다.
이번 회의는 이재명 대통령의 첫 미국 방문에 맞춰 개최된 것으로, 양국 대표 경제인과 정부 인사 등 40여명이 참석했다.
한국 측에서 주관단체인 한경협의 류진 회장을 비롯해, 이재용 삼성전자 회장, 최태원 SK 회장, 정의선 현대차 회장, 구광모 LG 회장, 김동관 한화 부회장, 정기선 HD현대 부회장, 허태수 GS 회장, 조원태 대한항공 회장, 이재현 CJ 회장, 구자은 LS 회장, 박지원 두산에너빌리티 회장, 서정진 셀트리온 회장, 최윤범 고려아연 회장, 김상현 롯데 부회장, 최수연 네이버 대표 등 총 16인의 기업인들이 참석했다.
류진 한경협 회장은 이 자리에서 "한국 기업들은 미국과 글로벌 시장을 함께 견인하며 제조업 르네상스의 새 시대를 열기 위해 1500억 달러의 대미 투자를 계획하고 있다"고 강조하며 "AI·반도체·바이오 등 첨단산업에서부터 조선·원자력 등 전략산업, 공급망과 인재 육성에 이르기까지 한국과 미국이 함께 한다면 제조업의 새로운 황금시대를 열 수 있다"고 말했다.
류 회장은 이어 "미국의 혁신 역량에 한국의 높은 제조 기술이 결합되면 양국은 최상의 시너지를 만드는 파트너가 될 것"이라며 "이번 정상회담을 계기로 양국은 단순히 생산시설 확대를 넘어 AI·반도체 등 첨단산업에서부터 조선·원자력 같은 전략산업에 걸쳐 공급망과 기술을 공유하는 큰 틀의 상생협력을 추진할 것"이라고 강조했다.
이날 회의에서 김정관 산업통상자원부 장관과 하워드 러트닉 미국 상무부 장관이 참석한 가운데 조선·원자력·항공·LNG·핵심광물 분야에서 11건의 계약·양해각서(MOU)가 체결됐으며 개별 기업들의 대미 투자 발표가 이어졌다.

먼저, 대한항공은 70조원 규모의 대미 투자 계획을 발표했다. 여기에는 보잉 항공기 100대 이상 구매 및 GE에어로스페이스로부터 엔진 구매 및 정비 계약을 체결한다는 내용이 포함됐다.

HD현대·한국산업은행·서버러스 캐피탈은 미국 조선업·해양 물류 인프라·첨단 해양 기술을 포함해 미국과 동맹국의 해양 역량을 재건·강화하는 것을 목표로 하는 수십억 달러 규모의 공동 투자펀드 조성을 위한 MOU를 체결했다.
삼성중공업과 비거 마린 그룹은 미국 해군의 지원함 유지·보수·정비(MRO), 조선소 현대화 및 선박 공동 건조 등 전략적 파트너십 구축 MOU를 맺었다.

Korean Companies Announce ₩200 Trillion in US Investments Following the South Korea-US Summit
Following the successful first summit between President Lee Jae-myung and US President Donald Trump, Korean companies are set to invest a total of $150 billion (approximately ₩209 trillion) in the US.
The Korea Economic Association (KECA) hosted the "Korea-US Business Roundtable: Manufacturing Renaissance Partnership" at the Willard Hotel in Washington, D.C. on the afternoon of the 25th (local time).
The meeting, held in conjunction with President Lee Jae-myung's first visit to the US, was attended by approximately 40 leading business leaders and government officials from both countries.
A total of 16 business leaders attended the event, including Ryu Jin, Chairman of the Korea Economic Council (KECC), the organizing body for the event, as well as Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong, SK Chairman Choi Tae-won, Hyundai Motor Chairman Chung Eui-sun, LG Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, Hanwha Vice Chairman Kim Dong-kwan, HD Hyundai Vice Chairman Chung Ki-sun, GS Chairman Huh Tae-soo, Korean Air Chairman Cho Won-tae, CJ Chairman Lee Jae-hyun, LS Chairman Koo Ja-eun, Doosan Energy Chairman Park Jie-won, Celltrion Chairman Seo Jung-jin, Korea Zinc Chairman Choi Yoon-beom, Lotte Vice Chairman Kim Sang-hyun, and Naver CEO Choi Soo-yeon.
KECC Chairman Ryu Jin emphasized, "Korean companies are planning to invest $150 billion in the US to drive the US and global markets together and usher in a new era of manufacturing renaissance." He added, "From cutting-edge industries like AI, semiconductors, and biotechnology to strategic industries like shipbuilding and nuclear power, supply chains, and talent development, if Korea and the US work together, we can usher in a new golden age for manufacturing."

At the meeting, attended by Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Kim Jung-kwan and U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Rutnick, 11 contracts and memoranda of understanding (MOUs) were signed in the shipbuilding, nuclear, aviation, LNG, and key mineral sectors. Individual companies also announced their investments in the U.S.
First, Korean Air announced a 70 trillion won (approximately $55 billion USD) investment plan in the U.S., including the purchase of over 100 Boeing aircraft and a contract for engine purchase and maintenance from GE Aerospace.
Hyundai Motor Group announced that it will invest $26 billion (approximately $36 billion USD) in the U.S. over the next four years, starting this year. This represents a $5 billion (KRW 6.94 trillion) increase from the $21 billion investment plan announced in March.
Hyundai Motor Group's key investment areas are steel, automobiles, and robotics. The plan is to expand its influence across strategic industries in the United States and broaden the scope of Korea-US economic cooperation.
