한수원은 25일(현지시간) 미국 워싱턴 D.C. 윌러드 인터콘티넨탈 호텔에서 삼성물산, 미국 민간 에너지 회사 페르미 아메리카(Fermi America)와 ‘첨단 에너지 복합센터 건설 협력을 위한 업무협약(MOU)’을 체결했다고 밝혔다.
페르미 아메리카는 미국 전 에너지부 장관 릭 페리(Rick Perry)와 CEO 토비 노이게바우어(Toby Neugebauer)가 공동 설립한 기업으로, 현재 텍사스주 아마릴로 인근 부지에 총 발전용량 11GW 규모의 첨단 에너지 복합센터를 건설할 계획이다. 해당 센터는 대형원전 4기, 소형모듈원자로(SMR), 가스복합화력, 태양광 등 다양한 전력공급 인프라와 AI 데이터센터를 포함한 복합시설로 구성될 예정이다.
