광복 80주년을 맞아 청소년들이 시 낭송으로 애국심을 키우는 뜻깊은 무대가 마련됐다.
경기북부보훈지청이 주최한 청소년 시 낭송 경연대회 「이 땅에, 되찾은 봄」이 8월 28일 의정부시청소년수련관 한울관에서 성황리에 개최됐다고 29일 발표했다.
의정부교육지원청과 대한문인협회 동두천지회가 후원한 이번 대회는 관내 중·고등학생 본선 진출자들을 대상으로 진행됐다.

이번 경연대회는 청소년들이 시 낭송을 통해 독립과 광복의 의미를 체감하고 애국심을 함양하는 것을 목표로 기획됐다.
특히 국가유공자와 유족에게 감사의 뜻을 전하며 세대 간 역사 인식을 연결하는 소중한 계기가 됐다.
행사는 국민의례로 시작됐으며, 손순욱 경기북부보훈지청장은 환영사에서 "오늘 여러분이 낭송하는 시 한 구절 한 구절을 통해 애국선열들이 꿈꾸었던 대한민국을 생각하고, 나라 사랑의 마음을 깊이 새기길 기대한다"고 말했다.
중등부와 고등부로 나뉜 본선 무대에서는 학생들이 이육사, 윤동주, 이상화, 심훈 등 일제강점기와 광복의 염원을 담은 시인들의 작품을 낭송했다.
중등부에서는 포천여중 1학년 학생이 최우수상을, 고등부에서는 양평고 1학년 학생이 최우수상의 영예를 안았다.
우수상과 장려상은 각 부문별로 참가 학생들에게 수여됐다.
대회 현장에서는 유정글로벌학교 학생들의 편지 영상 상영과 성악 독창 공연, 동두천문화원 김정희 이사의 특별 낭송이 이어져 행사에 풍성한 의미를 더했다.

경기북부보훈지청 관계자는 "청소년들이 시를 통해 광복과 독립의 의미를 되새기고, 애국심을 한층 더 키우는 계기가 되길 바란다"며 "청소년 참여형 보훈문화 행사를 앞으로도 지속적으로 이어갈 계획"이라고 밝혔다.
이번 대회는 광복절의 역사적 의미를 젊은 세대에게 전달하고, 문학을 통한 애국심 교육의 새로운 모델을 제시했다는 평가를 받고 있다.

Middle and High School Students Recited Patriotic Poetry at the Uijeongbu Youth Training Center
To mark the 80th anniversary of liberation, a meaningful event was held for young people to foster patriotism through poetry recitation.
The Gyeonggi Northern Veterans Affairs Office announced on the 29th that the Youth Poetry Recitation Contest "Reclaimed Spring in This Land," hosted by the Gyeonggi Northern Veterans Affairs Office, was successfully held on August 28th at the Hanul Hall of the Uijeongbu Youth Training Center.
Sponsored by the Uijeongbu Office of Education and the Dongducheon Chapter of the Korean Writers Association, the contest was open to middle and high school students in the region who advanced to the finals.
The contest aimed to encourage young people to experience the meaning of independence and liberation through poetry recitation and cultivate patriotism.
It was a valuable opportunity to express gratitude to the national heroes and their bereaved families, and to bridge the gap between generations in historical awareness.
The event began with the National Anthem, and in his welcoming address, Son Soon-wook, Director of the Gyeonggi Northern Veterans Affairs Office, said, "I hope that through each verse of the poems you recite today, you will reflect on the Republic of Korea that our patriotic ancestors dreamed of and deeply engrave your love for your country."
In the final round, divided into middle school and high school categories, students recited works by poets such as Yi Yuk-sa, Yun Dong-ju, Lee Sang-hwa, and Sim Hun, reflecting on the Japanese colonial period and the yearning for liberation.
In the middle school category, a first-year student from Pocheon Girls' Middle School won the grand prize, while in the high school category, a first-year student from Yangpyeong High School won the grand prize.
Excellence and Encouragement Awards were presented to participating students in each category.
The event was enriched by a video showing of letters from students at Yujeong Global School, a vocal solo performance, and a special recitation by Kim Jeong-hee, Director of the Dongducheon Cultural Center.
An official from the Gyeonggi Northern Veterans Affairs Office stated, "We hope this will be an opportunity for young people to reflect on the meaning of liberation and independence through poetry and further cultivate their patriotism. We plan to continue this youth-participatory veterans' cultural event going forward."
This competition is receiving positive reviews for conveying the historical significance of Liberation Day to the younger generation and presenting a new model for patriotic education through literature.
