브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 김정은 북한 국무위원장과 시진핑 중국 국가주석이 4일 베이징 인민대회당에서 정상회담을 갖고 국제 정세 속 양국 공동 이익을 위한 협력 강화 의지를 재확인했다.
시진핑 주석은 한반도 문제와 관련해 “북한과 협력해 평화와 안정을 위해 노력할 것”이라고 강조했으며 김정은 위원장은 중국의 ‘공정한 입장’을 높이 평가했다. 양측은 경제 협력 심화 방안도 논의했다.
중국 신화통신에 따르면 시 주석은 회담에서 “중국은 한반도 문제에서 항상 객관적이고 공정한 입장을 견지해 왔다”며 “북한과 조율을 강화해 한반도 평화와 안정을 위해 최선을 다할 용의가 있다”고 말했다. 이어 “양국은 국제·지역 문제에서 전략적 협력을 강화하고 공동 이익을 수호해야 한다”고 덧붙였다.
김 위원장은 남북관계에 대한 직접 언급은 피하면서도 “한반도 문제에 대한 중국의 공정한 입장을 높이 평가한다”고 밝혔다.
이어 그는 “유엔 등 다자 플랫폼에서 협력을 강화해 양측 공동 이익을 수호할 것”이라고도 했다.
김 위원장은 또한 “양당·양국 간 교류를 강화하고, 당 건설·경제 발전 경험을 공유하며, 호혜적 무역 협력을 심화해 더 많은 성과를 내길 희망한다”면서 “중국의 오랜 지원에 감사하다”고 말했다.
이에 시 주석은 “북한이 자국 실정에 맞는 발전의 길을 걷는 것을 지지한다”며 “고위급 교류와 전략적 소통을 강화하고 실질 협력을 전개하겠다”고 응답했다.
시 주석은 아울러 김 위원장이 전날 베이징 톈안먼 광장에서 열린 중국 전승절 80주년 열병식에 참석한 것을 언급하며 “양국 우호 협력 관계 발전의 중요한 계기”로 평가하기도 했다.
김 위원장은 전승절 기념식에서 시 주석, 블라디미르 푸틴 러시아 대통령과 함께 단상 중앙에 나란히 서며 북·중·러 3각 연대를 과시했다. 이는 김 위원장의 첫 다자외교 무대이자 66년 만의 북·중·러 정상 동반석상이다.
김 위원장은 특히 “국제 정세가 어떻게 변하더라도 북중 간 우호는 변하지 않을 것”이라며 양국 관계 발전 의지를 강조했다. 시 주석도 “북한노동당 창건 80주년을 축하하며, 중국은 전통적 우호를 변함없이 유지·발전시킬 것”이라고 강조했다.
김 위원장은 그러면서 “대만·티베트·신장 등 중국 핵심 이익 문제에서 확고히 중국을 지지하겠다”고 덧붙였다.
한편, 이번 회담은 2019년 6월 시 주석 방북 이후 약 6년 만이다. 김 위원장은 2011년 집권 이후 이번까지 다섯 차례 중국을 방문했는데, 앞선 네 번은 2018~2019년 남북·북미 대화 국면 당시였다.
이번 회담이 한국 이재명 정부와 미국 트럼프 2기 행정부의 대화 제의 시점에 열린 만큼 향후 북중 관계뿐 아니라 한반도 정세에도 영향을 줄 수 있다는 관측이 제기된다.
김 위원장은 이날 만찬을 마치고 오후 10시 5분경 베이징역을 통해 귀국길에 올랐다. 이번 방중에는 후계자 가능성이 거론되는 딸 김주애도 동행했다.

President Xi also mentioned Chairman Kim's attendance at the military parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of China's Victory Day held in Beijing's Tiananmen Square the previous day, calling it "an important moment in the development of friendly and cooperative relations between our two countries."
At the Victory Day ceremony, Chairman Kim, along with President Xi and Russian President Vladimir Putin, stood side by side at the center of the podium, demonstrating the trilateral solidarity among North Korea, China, and Russia. This marks Chairman Kim's first multilateral diplomatic engagement and the first joint meeting between the leaders of North Korea, China, and Russia in 66 years.

Meanwhile, this meeting marks the first in approximately six years, following President Xi's visit to North Korea in June 2019. Since taking power in 2011, Chairman Kim has visited China five times, the previous four being during inter-Korean and North Korea-US dialogues in 2018-2019.
As this meeting took place at a time when South Korea's Lee Jae-myung administration and the Trump administration are proposing dialogue, there is speculation that it could impact not only future North Korea-China relations but also the situation on the Korean Peninsula.
After the dinner, Chairman Kim departed Beijing Station at around 10:05 PM on his way back home. His daughter, Kim Ju-ae, who is considered a possible successor, accompanied him on his visit.
