세종시에서 대학수학능력시험(수능)에 지원한 수험생이 처음으로 6천 명을 넘어섰다. 해마다 응시 인원이 꾸준히 늘어나면서 신생 도시에서의 교육 수요 확대와 대학 입시에 대한 열기가 뚜렷하게 나타나고 있다.
세종시교육청은 2026학년도 수능 응시원서 접수를 마감한 결과, 총 6005명이 지원했다고 9일 밝혔다. 지난해(5,332명)보다 673명(12.6%) 늘어난 수치다.
응시 유형별로 살펴보면 재학생(졸업예정자) 4141명으로 전년 대비 499명(13.7%) 증가했고 졸업생은 1577명으로 129명(8.9%) 늘어났다.
또한 검정고시 합격자는 287명으로 지난해보다 45명(18.6%) 증가했다. 성별 분포는 남자 2983명(49.7%), 여자 3022명(50.3%)로 비슷한 수준을 보였다.
최근 3년간 세종시 수능 응시자 추이는 2024학년도 4708명 ,2025학년도 5332명 ,2026학년도 6005명으로, 매년 꾸준한 증가세다. 이는 전국적 학령인구 감소세 속에서도 세종시 내 학생 및 수험생 수요 증가와 맞물린 흐름으로 평가된다.
