충남 서산시가 오는 28일 양대동 서산스포츠테마파크 일원에서 ‘코스모스 황금들녘 마라톤대회’를 개최 한다고 밝혔다.
청명한 가을 하늘 아래 코스모스 군락과 황금빛 들녘을 배경 삼아 전국 각지에서 몰린 7천여 명의 참가자들이 가을 달리기 축제에 나선다.
이번 대회는 서산시체육회가 주최하고 서산시육상연맹·전국마라톤협회가 주관한다. 지난해 3천5백여 명이 참여했던 것과 비교해 두 배 가까이 늘어난 7천여 명이 참가 등록을 마쳐 서산의 명품 마라톤 대회로 성큼 자리 잡고 있다는 평가다.
코스는 5㎞, 10㎞, 하프 마라톤 3개 종목으로 구성됐다. 종목별로 남녀 각각 10위까지 트로피가 수여되며, 10㎞와 하프는 연령별 시상도 진행된다. 참가자 전원에게는 완주 메달과 함께 지역 특산물인 ‘뜸부기 쌀’이 기념품으로 제공된다.
참가자가 크게 늘어난 만큼 시는 대회 운영 안정성에도 각별히 신경을 기울였다. 기존 5㎞와 10㎞ 코스의 중첩 구간을 조정해 주로 혼잡을 최소화했고, 서산경찰서와 협력해 교통 통제 구간을 확대했다. 안전요원 250여 명도 배치해 응급 상황 대응체계를 보강했다.
주차 편의성도 개선됐다. 임시주차장 3곳을 마련해 전년 대비 250면 이상 늘어난 공간을 확보했으며, 주차장과 행사장 간 이동을 위한 셔틀버스가 운영된다.
