경기북부보훈지청(지청장 손순욱)이 올해 추진 중인 '4인 5각, 함께 걸어 보훈' 프로젝트의 일환으로 지난 9월 19일 연천군 항일독립운동 기념탑을 찾아 뜻깊은 시간을 가졌다.
이번 방문은 지난 8월 양평군 몽양기념관에 이어 두 번째로 실시된 것으로, 연천군 백학면 두일리 372-1에 위치한 항일독립운동 기념탑을 둘러보며 순국선열의 숭고한 정신을 기렸다.

연천군에 세워진 항일독립운동 기념탑은 경기북부 지역 최초의 만세운동 현장을 기념하기 위해 건립되었다.

광복 80주년을 맞은 올해 더욱 특별한 의미를 갖는 이곳에서 경기북부보훈지청 직원들은 순국선열의 희생과 헌신, 그리고 현재 우리가 누리는 자유와 평화의 소중함을 되새겼다.

이 프로젝트의 특징은 경기북부보훈지청 직원 4명이 한 조를 이루어 매달 관할 11개 시군 중 한 곳의 현충시설을 방문한다는 점이다.
