충남 당진시가 장애인, 고령자, 임산부, 영유아 동반 가족 등 교통약자도 불편 없이 즐길 수 있는 관광환경 조성을 완료했다. 당진시는 25일 합덕제와 솔뫼성지 2곳에서 추진한 ‘열린관광지 조성사업’을 마무리했다고 밝혔다.
이번 사업은 문화체육관광부와 한국관광공사가 주관한 2024년 열린관광지 공모사업 선정에 따라 총 10억 원을 투입해 올해 본격 추진됐다. 합덕제와 솔뫼성지는 연간 수많은 관광객이 찾는 당진의 대표 관광지로, 이번 사업을 통해 이동 약자를 위한 관광 인프라가 대폭 확충됐다.

주요 개선 사항으로는 장애인 주차장에서 관광지 내부로 이어지는 보행로 정비, 경사로 설치, 화장실 문턱 제거 등 물리적 접근성 향상이 포함됐다. 또한 점자 안내판과 음성 안내 시스템을 확충해 시각장애인 등 정보 접근 취약계층도 관광 정보를 쉽게 접할 수 있도록 개선했다.
당진시는 물리적 시설 보완에 그치지 않고 관광 서비스 전반을 교통약자 친화적으로 개편했다는 점에서 더욱 의미가 크다고 강조했다.
