대구교육, 교육수도 선포 10주년…세계로 뻗는다

【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구가 ‘대한민국 교육수도’ 선포 10주년을 맞아 세계적인 교육도시로 도약하겠다는 비전을 내놨다.

대구시교육청은 25일 대구학생문화센터 대공연장에서 기념식을 열고 지난 10년간의 성과를 돌아보며 ‘글로벌 교육수도 대구’로 나아갈 새로운 목표를 발표했다. 행사에는 지역사회 인사와 교직원, 학생, 학부모 등 1300여 명이 함께했다.

기념식은 대구유스오케스트라 금관앙상블의 공연으로 시작됐다. 이어 대구교육의 발자취를 되돌아보는 ‘10년의 여정’, 글로벌 엠블럼 공개, ‘The Education Capital, Daegu’ 퍼포먼스, 학생들의 축하 공연 등이 이어지며 분위기를 더했다.

그동안 대구교육은 전국 최대 규모 IB 월드스쿨 운영, 미래학교 모델 확산, 기초학력 안전망 구축, 전국 최초 마음교육과 교육권보호센터 설립, 늘봄학교 정착, AI·SW교육 강화 등 굵직한 성과를 거뒀다.

강은희 교육감은 이날 ‘대한민국을 넘어 세계로 나아가다’라는 슬로건과 함께 새 엠블럼을 공개하며 “대구교육이 세계가 주목하는 미래 교육도시로 자리 잡을 수 있도록 앞장서겠다”고 강조했다.

대구시교육청은 최근 시민 5695명을 대상으로 정책 인식 조사를 진행했다. 조사에서 ‘대구시민으로서 가장 자긍심을 느끼는 분야’ 1위가 교육(21.2%)으로 꼽혀, 대구교육이 지역민들에게 큰 자부심이 되고 있는 것으로 나타났다.

Daegu, marking the 10th anniversary of its designation as the "Education Capital of Korea," has unveiled a vision to transform itself into a world-class educational city.

The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education held a commemorative ceremony at the Daegu Student Cultural Center Grand Theater on the 25th, reflecting on the achievements of the past decade and announcing new goals for Daegu as a "Global Education Capital." Approximately 1,300 people attended the event, including community members, faculty, students, and parents.

The ceremony began with a performance by the Daegu Youth Orchestra Brass Ensemble. The event was followed by a "10-Year Journey," reflecting on the legacy of Daegu's education, the unveiling of the global emblem, a performance titled "The Education Capital, Daegu," and a celebratory student performance.

Daegu's education has achieved significant achievements, including operating the nation's largest IB World School, expanding the Future School model, establishing a safety net for basic academic skills, establishing the nation's first Mind Education and Education Rights Protection Center, establishing Neulbom School, and strengthening AI and software education.

Superintendent Kang Eun-hee unveiled a new emblem with the slogan, "Beyond Korea, Advancing to the World," emphasizing, "I will take the lead in ensuring that Daegu education establishes itself as a future educational city that attracts global attention."

The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education recently conducted a policy awareness survey of 5,695 citizens. The survey found that education (21.2%) ranked first as the "area in which Daegu citizens feel most proud," demonstrating that Daegu education is a source of great pride for local residents.
