충남 당진시가 1일 시청 대강당에서 ‘제14회 당진시민의 날’ 기념식을 열고, 시민의 화합과 지역 발전을 다짐하는 뜻깊은 자리를 마련했다.
이날 행사에는 오성환 시장과 서영훈 시의회 의장을 비롯해 지역 기관·단체장, 시민, 출향 인사, 역대 시민대상 수상자 등 700여 명이 참석해 시민의 날을 축하했다. 기념식은 시민헌장 낭독 ,시민대상 시상 ,기념 공연 ,시민의 노래 제창 등으로 진행되며, 당진 시민의 자긍심과 결속을 확인하는 시간이 됐다.
특히 올해는 제14회를 맞아 중학교 1학년 학생들이 시민헌장을 낭독, 미래 세대의 목소리로 당진의 꿈과 희망을 전하며 의미를 더했다.
시민대상 시상식에서는 지난달 심사를 통해 최종 선정된 두 명의 수상자가 상을 받았다. 지역발전·환경 부문에서 선정된 남준우 수상자는 지역경제 활성화와 복지 증진에 힘써온 공로와 함께, 당진3동개발위원회 초대회장, 새마을협의회장, 대호지면 명예면장 등을 역임하며 지역사회와 행정을 연결하는 가교 역할을 한 점이 높이 평가됐다.
사회봉사 부문 수상자인 김정곤 씨는 대한적십자사봉사회에 입회한 이후 20여 년간 지역사회의 어려운 이웃을 위해 8,000시간이 넘는 봉사활동을 펼쳐 왔다. 특히 당진지구협의회 회장으로서 이웃사랑과 나눔 실천을 이끌며 지역 복지 향상에 크게 기여했다.
다채롭게 마련된 기념 공연은 세대와 장르를 아우르며 시민 화합의 의미를 강조했고, 마지막 순서로 참석자 전원이 함께 부른 시민의 노래는 행사장 분위기를 더욱 뜨겁게 달궜다.
오성환 시장은 기념사를 통해 “당진은 언제나 시민이 함께 만들어온 힘으로 발전해왔다”며 “제14회 시민의 날을 계기로 시민 화합을 다시 다지며, 더 큰 도약을 향해 나아가자”고 말했다.
