도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령이 1일(현지시간) 오는 10월말께 시진핑 중국 국가 주석과 중국의 미국 대두 구매 수입 중단 사안을 논의할 것이라고 밝혔다.
영국 '로이터 통신'에 따르면 트럼프 대통령은 이날 자신의 트루스소셜에 “중국이 단지 협상을 이유로 대두 구매를 중단하면서 우리나라 농민들이 피해보고 있다”며 "졸린 조 바이든(전 대통령)은 수십억 달러 우리 농산물 특히 대두를 구매키로 한 중국과의 협정을 집행하지 않았다”며 이같이 전했다.
그러면서 “4주 후 시진핑 주석과 만날 것이며 대두는 대화 주요 의제 중 하나가 될 것”이라며 “대두와 다른 작물들을 다시 위대하게”라고 덧붙였다.
앞서 지난 9월 16일 트럼프 대통령은 시 주석과의 전화 통화 후 자신의 트루스소셜에 “시 주석과 한국서 열리는 APEC(아시아태평양경제협력체) 정상회의에서 만나기로 합의했다”고 밝힌 바 있다.
