브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 경찰이 2일 이진숙 전 방송통신위원장을 자택에서 긴급 체포했다.
서울 영등포경찰서는 이날 오후 4시 공직선거법 위반, 국가공무원법 위반 등 혐의로 이진숙 전 위원장에 대한 체포영장을 집행했다고 밝혔다.
경찰은 이 전 위원장이 수사 중 출석에 불응해 법원으로부터 체포영장을 발부받아 주거지 인근에서 체포한 것으로 전해졌다.
그러나 이 전 위원장 측 법률대리인은 "지난주 토요일 국회 필리버스터 일정으로 인해 불출석 사유서를 제출했다"면서 "갑자기 오늘 체포 영장을 집행한 것은 과도한 경찰의 직권 남용"이라고 주장했다.
앞서 이 전 위원장은 해당 혐의로 경찰에 고발된 상태로 알려졌다.
한편, 이진숙 전 위원장은 지난 1일 국회 본회의와 국무회의를 통과한 방송미디어통신위 설치법이 공포·시행되면서 방통위 폐지와 함께 자동면직됐다.
