도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령이 6일(현지시간) '오는 11월 1일부터 미국으로 수입되는 중·대형 트럭에 25% 관세가 발효된다'고 밝혔다.
영국 '로이터 통신'에 따르면 트럼프 대통령은 이날 자신의 트루스소셜에 “다른 나라에서 미국으로 들어오는 모든 중·대형 트럭은 11월 1일자로 25% 관세가 부과될 것”이라며 이같이 전했다.
당초 트럼프 대통령은 대형 트럭에 25% 관세를 부과하겠다고 밝혔으나 대상이 중형 트럭까지 확대된 것이다.
중형 트럭은 총 중량 1만4001파운드(약 6350㎏)∼2만6000파운드, 대형 트럭 경우 총 중량 2만6001파운드 이상이 해당된다.
트럭에 대한 관세 부과 발효 시점이 당초(10월 1일) 대비 한 달 늦춰진 가운데 앞서 지난 9월 25일 트럼프 대통령은 “다른 무엇보다 국가 안보 목적으로 필요하고, 10월 1일부터 대형 트럭에 25% 관세를 부과하겠다"고 발표한 바 있다.
