충남 태안군이 지역 산림의 생태적 가치를 지키기 위해 소나무재선충병 확산 방지에 전면 대응하고 나섰다.
이를 위해 태안군은 10일, 올해 26억여 원의 예산을 투입해 ‘2025년 소나무재선충병 방제사업’을 본격 추진 중이라고 밝혔다. 이번 사업은 지역 전역을 대상으로 나무 주사, 고사목 제거, 감염목 벌채 등 예방 중심의 방제 조치가 포함됐다.
소나무재선충병은 북방수염하늘소 등 매개충이 소나무의 상처 부위를 통해 재선충을 옮기면서 발생한다. 한 번 감염되면 3개월 내 대부분의 나무가 고사해 회복이 불가능하기 때문에 조기 탐지와 예방적 방제가 핵심이다.
태안군에서는 지난 2014년 안면읍에서 첫 발생 이후 최근 5년간 총 2,887그루의 피해가 공식 확인됐다. 감염 의심목까지 포함하면 약 20만 그루의 소나무가 피해를 입은 것으로 추정된다.
태안군은 하반기 남면 달산리 일원 12ha에 대해 모두베기 후 수종 전환을 실시하고, 백화산 일원 158ha에는 나무 주사 방제사업을 추진한다. 이와 함께 주택 인근 등 생활권 내 고사목은 신속히 제거하며, 추가 감염 우려목에 대해서는 단목 벌채를 병행할 예정이다.
