[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시는 15일 오전 10시 김성환 기후에너지환경부 장관과 함께 금정산국립공원 예정지 현장을 방문해 금정산의 생태·문화자원 현황을 점검하고 향후 협력 방안을 논의했다.
이번 현장 방문은 금정산이 중앙산지관리위원회와 중앙도시계획위원회의 심의를 연이어 통과한 데 이어 최종 단계인 국립공원위원회 심의를 앞두고 이뤄졌다.
기후에너지환경부와 부산시는 금정산의 자연생태계, 경관자원, 문화자원 현황에 대해 국립공원공단으로부터 보고받고 지역 시민단체 등과 함께 생물다양성 증진 및 지역 상생 방안에 대해 논의했다.
방문지는 금정구 소재 남문습지로, 금정산은 낙동정맥을 따라 형성된 국가 주요 생태 축이며, 천혜의 자연경관과 풍부한 생태·문화자원을 갖춘 부산의 대표 명산이다.
2020년부터 2021년까지 진행된 국립공원 지정 타당성 조사에 따르면, 금정산에는 멸종위기 야생생물 13종을 포함해 총 1,782종의 야생생물이 서식하고 있으며, 자연경관 71곳과 문화유산 127점이라는 높은 생태·경관·문화적 가치가 확인됐다.
금정산국립공원 지정은 2005년부터 시민 여론을 바탕으로 추진되어 2019년 6월 환경부에 공식 건의된 이후 꾸준히 사업이 진행됐다.

지난해 11월부터 주민공람·주민설명회·공청회·지자체장 의견 청취 및 관계 부처 협의절차가 마무리됐으며, 국립공원위원회 심의만 통과하면 국립공원 지정 절차가 완료된다.
한편, 김성환 장관은 이날 금정산 국립공원 예정지 외에도 양산시 호포마을과 부산 범어사를 방문해 현장의 의견을 청취하는 시간을 가졌다.
박형준 시장은 “이번 방문을 통해 기후에너지환경부와 협력 체계를 강화하고, 국립공원위원회 심의 통과를 성공적으로 마무리할 것”이라며 “시민과 함께 지속 가능한 보전·관리 체계를 만들어 금정산을 부산의 새로운 도심형 생태자산이자 대한민국 최초의 도심형 국립공원 선도 모델로 만들겠다”고 말했다.

Busan City (Mayor Park Hyung-joon) announced that it will visit the site of the planned Geumjeongsan National Park at 10 a.m. today (October 15) with Kim Sung-hwan, Minister of the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment.
This site visit was arranged following the recent approvals from the Central Mountain Management Committee and the Central Urban Planning Committee, ahead of the final review by the National Park Committee. The Ministry and Busan City will inspect the current ecological and cultural resources of Geumjeongsan and discuss future cooperation plans.
The visited site is Nammun Wetland in Geumjeong-gu, a major ecological asset of Geumjeongsan. The National Park Service reported on the current status of Geumjeongsan’s natural ecosystem, landscape resources, and cultural assets. Discussions were held with related agencies and local civic groups about enhancing biodiversity and fostering regional coexistence.
Geumjeongsan is a key national ecological corridor formed along the Nakdong mountain range and a representative mountain of Busan, known for its pristine natural scenery and rich ecological and cultural resources. A feasibility study conducted between 2020 and 2021 found that Geumjeongsan is home to 1,782 wildlife species, including 13 endangered species. The mountain also hosts 71 notable natural landscapes and 127 cultural heritage sites, underscoring its high ecological, scenic, and cultural value.
The process to designate Geumjeongsan as a national park began with public opinion formation in 2005 and was officially proposed to the Ministry of Environment in June 2019. Since then, it has undergone feasibility studies, public consultations, local government hearings, and inter-ministerial coordination. Following approval by the National Park Committee, the designation procedure will be complete.
Additionally, Minister Kim planned to visit Ho-po Village in Yangsan City and Beomeosa Temple in Busan on the same day to gather local opinions on the national park designation.
Mayor Park Hyung-joon stated, “This site visit strengthens our cooperative system with the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment to successfully conclude the National Park Committee review. We are committed to building a sustainable conservation and management system with citizens to establish Geumjeongsan as Busan’s new urban ecological asset and Korea’s first model urban national park.”
