【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=동국대학교 WISE캠퍼스(총장 류완하)는 지난 10월 14일 교내 백주년기념관 5층 세미나실에서 ‘APEC 대학생 학술심포지엄’을 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이번 행사는 2025 APEC 정상회의의 성공적 개최를 기원하고, APEC 자원봉사자로 선발된 학생들을 비롯한 재학생들에게 국제적 시야를 넓힐 수 있는 교육의 기회를 제공하기 위해 마련됐다.
이번 심포지엄은 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 학생처 주관으로 진행됐으며, 류완하 총장을 비롯해 권오윤 비서실장, 하성 학생처장 등 교내 관계자와 다수의 학생들이 참석해 자리를 빛냈다.
행사는 ▲개회식 ▲류완하 총장의 축사 ▲APEC 기념 뱃지 수여 ▲이영찬 교수의 APEC 특강 ▲학생 주제 발표 순으로 진행됐다. 학생들은 ‘기후변화 대응’, ‘디지털 전환’, ‘포용적 성장’, ‘청년 리더십 강화’ 등 APEC 주요 의제를 중심으로 다양한 연구 결과를 발표했다. 특히 각국 사례 비교와 회원국 간 협력 방안, 청년세대의 역할 등에 대한 심도 있는 논의로 높은 수준의 학술적 성과를 거두었다.
류완하 총장은 “APEC 정상회의를 앞두고 청년들이 직접 의제를 연구하고 토론하는 것은 매우 뜻깊은 일”이라며 “지속가능한 미래를 이끌어갈 글로벌 인재로서 자부심을 가져달라”고 격려했다.
이번 심포지엄은 학생 주도의 학문 탐구를 통해 국제협력의 중요성과 APEC의 가치를 확산하고, 지역사회와 대학이 함께 글로벌 이슈에 참여하는 뜻깊은 계기가 됐다.
한편 같은 날 동국대 WISE캠퍼스는 원효관 글로벌에이스홀에서 경주시 후원으로 배기형 KBS 프로듀서를 초청해 ‘경주형 세계시민교육 초청강연’을 열었다.

배기형 PD는 “세계적 감동과 문화적 전환, K-컬처의 힘”을 주제로 강연을 진행했으며, 경주시민과 동국대 교직원, 재학생 등 100여 명이 참석해 높은 관심을 보였다. 강연 후에는 참석자들의 질문에 직접 답하며 소통의 시간을 가졌다.
배 PD는 “이제는 콘텐츠가 곧 사람을 설명하는 시대”라며 “내가 만드는 콘텐츠가 나를 말하고, 공유되지 않으면 의미가 없다. 한국은 곧 콘텐츠의 나라”라고 강조했다.
‘경주형 세계시민교육’은 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 글로벌융합연구소가 경주시와의 관학협력사업의 일환으로 추진하는 명품 교양강좌 시리즈로, 매월 다양한 주제의 강연이 이어질 예정이다.
이영찬 글로벌융합연구소 교수는 “문화다양성, 지속가능발전목표(SDGs), 국제개발협력 등 세계시민성의 핵심 주제를 시민들과 공유함으로써 책임 있는 세계시민으로 성장할 수 있도록 돕겠다”며 “이를 통해 경주의 지역 인재를 양성하고 글로컬 특성화 모델을 만들어가겠다”고 밝혔다.

Dongguk University WISE Campus Hosts APEC University Student Academic Symposium and Invited Lecture on 'Gyeongju-Style Global Citizenship Education'
Dongguk University WISE Campus (President Ryu Wan-ha) announced that it held the "APEC University Student Academic Symposium" on October 14th in the 5th floor seminar room of the Centennial Memorial Hall.
This event was organized to support the successful hosting of the 2025 APEC Summit and to provide educational opportunities for current students, including those selected as APEC volunteers, to broaden their international perspectives.
The symposium was hosted by the Dongguk University WISE Campus Office of Student Affairs. President Ryu Wan-ha, Chief of Staff Kwon Oh-yoon, Dean of Student Affairs Ha Sung, and other university officials, as well as numerous students, graced the occasion.
The event consisted of the following sequence: ▲Opening Ceremony ▲Congratulatory Remarks by President Ryu Wan-ha ▲APEC Commemorative Badge Presentation ▲APEC Special Lecture by Professor Lee Young-chan ▲Student Presentations Students presented diverse research results centered on key APEC agendas, including "climate change response," "digital transformation," "inclusive growth," and "strengthening youth leadership." In particular, they achieved high-quality academic results through in-depth discussions on comparative case studies from each country, cooperation strategies between member countries, and the role of the younger generation.
President Ryu Wan-ha said, "It is very meaningful for young people to research and discuss these agendas ahead of the APEC Summit," and encouraged them to "take pride in being global leaders who will lead a sustainable future."
This symposium served as a meaningful opportunity to promote the importance of international cooperation and the values of APEC through student-led academic inquiry, and to engage the local community and universities in addressing global issues together.
Meanwhile, on the same day, Dongguk University's WISE Campus hosted a "Gyeongju-style Global Citizenship Education Invitational Lecture" at the Wonhyogwan Global Ace Hall, sponsored by the city of Gyeongju, with Bae Ki-hyung, a KBS producer.
Producer Bae Ki-hyung gave a lecture on the topic, "Global Inspiration, Cultural Transformation, and the Power of K-Culture." Approximately 100 Gyeongju citizens, Dongguk University faculty, and students attended, demonstrating keen interest. After the lecture, he personally answered questions and engaged with the audience.
Producer Bae emphasized, "We live in an era where content defines people. The content I create speaks for me, and if it's not shared, it's meaningless. Korea is truly a nation of content."
"Gyeongju-Style Global Citizenship Education" is a series of premium liberal arts lectures offered by the Dongguk University WISE Campus Global Convergence Institute as part of a government-academic collaboration with the city of Gyeongju. Lectures on various topics will be held monthly.
Professor Lee Young-chan of the Global Convergence Institute stated, "By sharing core global citizenship themes such as cultural diversity, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and international development cooperation with citizens, we will help them grow into responsible global citizens. Through this, we will cultivate local talent in Gyeongju and establish a model for glocalization."
