브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 한일 양국이 이재명 대통령과 다카이치 사나에 일본 총리의 첫 정상회담을 오는 30일 개최하는 방향으로 조율 중이라는 외신 보도가 나왔다.
아사히신문의 28일 보도에 따르면 양국 정부는 경주에서 열리는 아시아태평양경제협력체(APEC) 정상회의를 계기로 회담 일정을 논의하고 있다.
이 신문은 “다카이치 총리가 한미일 협력을 중시하는 입장을 보이고 있으며, 이재명 대통령과의 회담에서 그 중요성을 강조할 가능성이 크다”고 전했다.
우익 성향으로 알려진 다카이치 총리의 취임 직후 한일 관계 악화를 우려하는 시각도 있었지만, 신문은 다카이치 총리가 지난 17~19일 열린 야스쿠니 신사 추계 예대제 기간 중 참배를 보류한 점에 주목했다.
다카이치 총리는 또한 지난 21일 취임 기자회견에서도 “한국 김을 매우 좋아한다”면서 “한국 대통령과 만날 수 있는 기회를 기대하고 있다”고 말해 우호적 분위기를 조성하기도 했다.
이에 따라 다카이치 총리는 과거 한국에 대해 강경한 태도를 보여왔지만, 한일 관계를 다시 최악으로 되돌릴 생각은 없는 것으로 보인다는 분석이 나온다.
이재명 대통령 역시 페이스북을 통해 “다가오는 APEC 정상회의가 열리는 경주에서 총리님을 직접 뵙고 건설적인 대화를 나누길 고대한다”고 화답하기도 했다.
한편, 위성락 국가안보실장은 21~22일 일본을 방문해 이치카와 게이이치 국가안보국장, 아소 다로 전 총리, 스가 요시히데 전 총리 등과 연쇄 회담을 가진 것으로 알려졌다.
