【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=2028년 국제그린에너지컨퍼런스(IGEC 2028)가 대구 엑스코 개최를 확정했다.
행사는 영남대학교 산학협력단과 국제그린에너지협회가 공동으로 주관하며, 엑스코의 대표 전시회인 국제그린에너지엑스포와 연계해 진행된다.
개최 확정은 지난 10월 28일 온라인으로 열린 업무협약(MOU)을 통해 이뤄졌다. IGEC 2028 조직위원장인 정재학 영남대 교수와 전춘우 엑스코 대표이사는 이날 협약을 체결하고 대구에서의 행사 개최를 공식 발표했다.
IGEC는 재생에너지, 수소, 에너지 효율, 탄소중립 등 글로벌 에너지 전환 관련 주제를 다루는 세계적인 학술 컨퍼런스다. 매년 약 300명의 국내외 전문가들이 참석하고 있으며, 2024년 중국 닝보, 2025년 아이슬란드 레이캬비크, 2026년 아부다비, 2027년 영국 옥스퍼드에 이어 2028년 대구에서 열린다.
이번 컨퍼런스는 학술회의와 산업 전시가 결합된 형태로 열릴 예정이다. 이를 통해 해외 연구자와 기업 간 교류가 확대되고, 대구의 글로벌 에너지 네트워크 강화에도 힘을 보탤 것으로 기대된다.
전춘우 엑스코 대표는 “IGEC 2028을 계기로 대구가 그린에너지 산업의 국제 교류 거점으로 성장할 것”이라며 “전시와 회의가 결합된 융합형 행사를 통해 국내 기업들의 기술 홍보와 해외시장 진출에도 실질적인 기회를 제공하겠다”고 말했다.

The 2028 International Green Energy Conference (IGEC 2028) has confirmed its hosting at EXCO in Daegu.
The event is co-hosted by the Yeungnam University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation and the International Green Energy Association, and will be held in conjunction with EXCO's flagship exhibition, the International Green Energy Expo.
The hosting was confirmed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed online on October 28. Professor Jeong Jae-hak of Yeungnam University, the IGEC 2028 Organizing Committee Chair, and Jeon Chun-woo, CEO of EXCO, signed the agreement that day and officially announced the event's hosting in Daegu.
IGEC is a world-renowned academic conference covering topics related to the global energy transition, including renewable energy, hydrogen, energy efficiency, and carbon neutrality. Approximately 300 domestic and international experts attend the conference annually. Following its 2024 appearance in Ningbo, China, in 2025 in Reykjavik, Iceland, in 2026 in Abu Dhabi, and 2027 in Oxford, England, the conference will be held in Daegu in 2028.
This conference will be held as a combination of an academic conference and an industrial exhibition. This is expected to expand exchanges between international researchers and companies and strengthen Daegu's global energy network.
Exco CEO Jeon Chun-woo stated, "IGEC 2028 will serve as a catalyst for Daegu to grow into a hub for international exchange in the green energy industry. This integrated event, combining exhibitions and conferences, will provide practical opportunities for domestic companies to promote their technologies and enter overseas markets."
