[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시는 한 분야에서 묵묵히 헌신하며 지역 문화발전에 기여한 6명을 ‘제68회 부산광역시 문화상’ 수상자로 선정했다고 30일 밝혔다.
이번 문화상은 시민 추천과 문화예술 기관·단체 추천 등을 통해 9개 부문 21명의 후보자를 접수받아, 지난달 문화협력위원회의 최종 심사를 거쳐 결정됐다. 올해는 자연과학, 문학, 공연예술, 시각예술, 전통예술, 공간예술 등 6개 부문에서 수상자가 배출됐다.
부문별 수상자 공적
자연과학 부문 수상자인 정해영 부산대학교 약학대학 석학교수는 노화 과학연구와 약학 분야에서 580여 편의 논문을 발표해 학문적 공헌을 인정받았다. 그는 연구개발 산업화와 각종 위원회 활동을 통해 고령친화산업 및 지역 과학기술 발전에도 크게 기여했다.
문학 부문에는 강동수 소설가가 이름을 올렸다. 1994년 세계일보 신춘문예로 등단한 그는 다수의 소설집과 산문집을 집필했으며, 요산문학상을 비롯한 여러 문학상을 수상하며 지역 문학예술 발전에 공헌했다.
공연예술 부문에서는 고정화 부산교육대학교 명예교수가 선정됐다. 그는 100회가 넘는 문화공연과 피아노 독주회를 비롯해 저술·음반 활동을 이어오며 클래식 음악 저변 확대에 힘썼다. 또한 시 정책위원회 등에서 활동하며 지역 공연예술 진흥에도 이바지했다.
시각예술 부문은 김수길 전 신라대학교 교수가 수상했다. 신라대 예술대학장을 역임한 그는 다수의 개인전과 국제비엔날레 참가를 통해 부산 전통회화의 계승과 지역미술 발전을 이끌었다.

전통예술 부문 수상자인 박지영 동래지신밟기보존회 회장은 동래지신밟기와 동래학춤의 전승 활동과 더불어 시민 참여형 교육 프로그램을 운영하며 지역 전통문화의 저변 확대에 힘써왔다.
공간예술 부문에서는 유재우 부산대학교 건축학과 교수가 선정됐다. 그는 부산국제건축제 집행위원장과 대한건축학회 부울경지회장을 역임하며 지역 건축문화 진흥과 도시재생사업에 공헌했다.
도모헌서 첫 야외 시상식 개최
시상식은 이날 오후 4시 복합문화공간 도모헌 야외정원에서 열렸다. 수상자와 가족, 지인 등 100여 명이 참석한 가운데 고즈넉한 가을 분위기 속에서 행사가 진행됐으며, 부산시립청소년교향악단의 축하공연도 마련됐다. 도모헌에서 문화상 시상식이 열린 것은 이번이 처음이다.
문화도시 부산의 상징적 전통상
1957년 제정된 부산광역시 문화상은 올해까지 총 67회에 걸쳐 420명의 수상자를 배출했다. 역대 수상자들은 문화예술 활동을 통해 시민의 삶과 지역 문화 저변을 풍요롭게 하는 데 기여해왔다.

박형준 시장은 “부산이 진정한 글로벌 허브도시로 발전하기 위해서는 독창적이고 풍부한 문화가 뒷받침되어야 한다”며 “앞으로도 지역문화 발전과 그 공로자들의 업적을 시민과 함께 공유하는 뜻깊은 전통을 이어가겠다”고 말했다.

-City recognizes citizens’ contributions across six fields; ceremony held at Domohun Garden
The Busan Metropolitan Government announced that six individuals who have quietly and steadfastly contributed to the city’s cultural development were selected as recipients of the 68th Busan Metropolitan City Culture Awards.
Candidates were recommended by cultural organizations, institutions, and citizen petitions, with the final six honorees chosen through a review by the Cultural Cooperation Committee last month. The awards cover six categories: natural science, literature, performing arts, visual arts, traditional arts, and spatial arts.
Awardees by Category
In the field of natural science, Professor Jeong Hae-young of Pusan National University’s College of Pharmacy was recognized for his outstanding research in pharmaceutical and aging sciences. Having published more than 580 academic papers, he has made significant contributions to the advancement of gerontology and regional scientific innovation.
Novelist Kang Dong-su was honored in the literature category. Since his literary debut through the Segye Ilbo New Year’s Literary Contest in 1994, he has published several short story collections and essays, earning multiple literary awards including the Yosan Literary Award for contributions to the city’s literary culture.
Emeritus Professor Ko Jeong-hwa of Busan National University of Education received the performing arts award for her extensive work in classical music through more than 100 performances, piano recitals, recordings, and publications, as well as her service in various arts councils and city policy committees.
In visual arts, former Silla University Professor Kim Su-gil was recognized for his leadership as dean and his efforts to promote traditional Korean painting through numerous solo and group exhibitions, including participation in international biennales, and for nurturing the foundation of Busan’s fine art scene.
Preservationist Park Ji-young, head of the Dongnae Jisinbalgi Preservation Association, received the traditional arts award. She was recognized for her dedication to preserving local cultural assets such as the Dongnae Jisinbalgi and Hakhchum, and for organizing educational programs that bring traditional culture closer to citizens.
Professor Yoo Jae-woo of Pusan National University’s Department of Architecture was honored in the spatial arts category for his leadership roles as executive director of the Busan International Architecture Festival and chair of the Architectural Institute of Korea’s Busan–Ulsan–Gyeongnam Chapter. His contributions include promoting regional architectural culture, leading urban regeneration initiatives, and fostering future talent.
Award Ceremony Held at Domohun
The award ceremony took place at 4 p.m. on October 30 in the outdoor garden of the Domohun cultural complex, with around 100 attendees including awardees, families, and guests. It was the first time the event had been held at Domohun, accompanied by a celebratory performance by the Busan City Youth Symphony Orchestra.
Busan’s Most Prestigious Cultural Honor
Established in 1957, the Busan Metropolitan City Culture Awards have honored 420 individuals over 67 years for their contributions to enriching civic life and strengthening the region’s cultural foundation.
Mayor Park Heong-joon stated, “For Busan to grow as a true global hub city, creative and thriving culture must serve as its foundation. Culture shapes the identity of a city and connects its people.” He added that the city will continue to foster unique, sustainable cultural initiatives and recognize contributors whose work advances Busan’s cultural stature.
