이재명 대통령이 4일 내년도 정부 예산안에 대한 국회 시정 연설에 나선다. 취임 후 정부가 제출한 본예산에 대한 첫 시정 연설이다.
대통령실 대변인실에 따르면 이 대통령은 이날 오전 여의도 국회를 찾아 '2026년도 정부 예산안' 국회 통과를 당부하는 시정 연설에 나서는 가운데 야당 협조 및 예산안의 조속한 통과를 요청할 것으로 보인다.
국회 예산결산특별위는 5일 예산안 공청회를 시작으로 내년도 예산안 심사에 들어가는 가운데 종합 정책 질의·경제 부처·비경제 부처를 대상으로 부별 심사가 진행될 예정이다. 예산안 본회의 의결 법정 기한은 오는 12월 2일이다.
정부가 국회에 제출한 내년도 예산안 규모는 728조로 올해 대비 8.1% 증가한 역대 최대 규모인 가운데 AI(인공지능)·반도체·바이오 등 주요 연구 개발(R&D) 예산이 대폭 증액됐다.
하지만 국민의힘은 국채 발행 확대 우려 등을 근거로 예산안 대폭 삭감을 요구 중이어서 여야 간 대치는 불가피해 보인다.
