이날 보고회에는 주낙영 경주시장, 이철우 경북도지사, 김석기 국회 외교통일위원장, 이동협 경주시의회 의장을 비롯해 도·시의원, 기관단체장, 시민 등 200여 명이 참석해 자리를 빛냈다.
이철우 지사는 성과보고를 통해 “지난 10월 27일부터 11월 1일까지 열린 제32차 APEC 정상회의는 ‘경주선언’을 비롯한 3대 공식 성과를 남겼다”며 “이번 회의를 계기로 경북과 경주가 대한민국의 새로운 성장축으로 부상했다”고 평가했다. 또한 “경북도는 경주시와 협력해 세계경주포럼, APEC 문화의전당 조성 등 후속사업을 지속 추진하겠다”고 밝혔다.
주낙영 경주시장은 모두발언에서 “이번 APEC 정상회의는 정부가 아닌 시민이 만들어낸 국제행사였다”며 “146만 명의 서명운동과 손님맞이 운동, 자발적인 시민 참여가 경주를 세계 속의 문화도시로 세웠다”고 강조했다. 이어 “APEC을 계기로 경주는 역사문화와 첨단산업이 공존하는 세계도시로 도약했다”며 “시민과 함께 Post-APEC 시대를 힘차게 열겠다”고 말했다.
김석기 국회 외교통일위원장은 축사에서 “국회가 초당적으로 ‘경주 APEC 지원 특별법’을 제정해 개최 기반을 마련했다”며 “앞으로도 경주가 지방시대의 선도 모델로 자리매김할 수 있도록 적극 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다.
경북도와 경주시는 이번 정상회의를 통해 도시 브랜드 가치가 크게 향상됐으며, 보문단지 리노베이션, KTX 증편, 포항경주공항 국제선 부정기편 운항 추진 등 교통 인프라 확충으로 도시 전반이 한층 업그레이드됐다고 설명했다.
특히 공식 결과문서인 ‘경주선언’은 ‘지속가능한 내일(Sustainable Tomorrow)’을 주제로, 문화산업을 아시아·태평양 지역의 새로운 성장동력으로 명문화하며 경주 개최의 상징성과 의미를 높였다.
주낙영 경주시장은 “APEC은 끝이 아니라 새로운 출발”이라며 “시민이 함께 만든 감동을 기반으로 지속가능한 글로벌 문화도시 경주로 나아가겠다”고 밝혔다.
이철우 지사와 김석기 위원장 또한 “경주의 이번 성과는 지방시대의 새로운 모델이자, 시민 참여형 국제행사의 모범사례로 기록될 것”이라며 높이 평가했다.

Gyeongju City Holds '2025 APEC Summit Results Report'
On the morning of November 5th, Gyeongju City held the '2025 APEC Summit Results Report' at the Millennium Smile Hall of the Gyeongju National Museum. The report shared with the public the major achievements of hosting the summit and future development challenges.

The 1.46 million signature campaign, the guest-welcoming campaign, and voluntary citizen participation established Gyeongju as a global cultural city." He continued, "Through APEC, Gyeongju has leaped forward as a global city where history, culture, and cutting-edge industries coexist. Together with its citizens, we will vigorously usher in the post-APEC era."
Kim Seok-ki, Chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee, stated in his congratulatory remarks, "The National Assembly has laid the foundation for hosting the APEC Summit by enacting the 'Gyeongju APEC Support Special Act' in a bipartisan manner. We will continue to actively support Gyeongju so that it can establish itself as a leading model for the regional era."
Gyeongbuk Province and Gyeongju City explained that this summit significantly enhanced the city's brand value, and the city's overall image was further upgraded by expanding transportation infrastructure, including the renovation of the Bomun Complex, increased KTX service, and the launch of irregular international flights at Pohang-Gyeongju Airport.
Notably, the official outcome document, the "Gyeongju Declaration," under the theme of "Sustainable Tomorrow," explicitly identified the cultural industry as a new growth engine for the Asia-Pacific region, enhancing the symbolic significance of hosting the event.

Governor Lee Cheol-woo and Chairman Kim Seok-gi also praised Gyeongju's achievements, stating, "This achievement will be remembered as a new model for the local era and an exemplary case of citizen-participatory international events."
