대구시교육청은 6일, 산업 구조 변화에 맞는 특성화 실습환경을 구축하기 위해 노후화된 자동차실습동을 전면 개축한다고 밝혔다.
1975년 준공된 자동차실습동은 49년이 넘은 시설로, 새로운 교육과정과 기술 발전을 반영한 개선 요구가 지속돼 왔다.
시교육청은 총 81억 원을 투입해 연면적 2,547제곱미터 규모로 실습동을 신축하고, 전기자동차 등 첨단 기술을 다룰 수 있는 전용 실습공간도 마련한다.
이번 사업의 설계는 학생과 교직원이 직접 참여한 사전기획안을 바탕으로 추진됐다. 설계 공모에는 건축사사무소 우진이 선정됐으며, 중앙 통로형 커뮤니티 홀이 중심이 되는 가변형 구조를 도입해 교육과 산업 트렌드 변화에 유연하게 대응할 수 있도록 한 것이 특징이다.
시교육청은 2026년 4월까지 설계를 마무리하고, 오는 2027년 7월 준공을 목표로 사업을 진행할 계획이다.
강은희 대구시교육감은 “미래 자동차 산업을 이끌어갈 전문가 양성을 위한 교육환경이 한층 강화될 것”이라며 “앞으로도 사용자 중심의 교육공간 조성에 힘쓰겠다”고 밝혔다.
