세종특별자치시의회(의장 임채성)가 11일부터 다음 달 15일까지 35일간 제102회 정례회를 열고, 2026년도 예산안과 주요 조례안 등을 심의한다.
임채성 의장은 10일 언론 브리핑을 열고 이번 회기를 “한 해를 마무리하고 새해를 준비하는 중요한 시점”이라며 “행정수도 완성의 동력 확보와 합리적 예산 심사에 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
이번 정례회에서는 시와 교육청의 2026년도 예산안과 추가경정예산안을 비롯해 총 66건의 안건이 다뤄진다. 이 가운데 조례안 38건, 동의안 10건, 예산안 7건, 관리계획안과 의견청취안 각 1건 등이 포함됐다.
또한 시정질문과 긴급현안질문, 주요 업무 추진상황 보고 등도 예정돼 있다.
임 의장은 “이번 예산안은 재정 여건이 제한적인 상황에서 편성된 만큼, 시민의 눈높이에 맞는 세밀하고 책임 있는 심사를 통해 꼭 필요한 곳에 예산이 쓰이도록 하겠다”고 강조했다. 이어 “시민의 삶의 질 향상뿐 아니라 행정수도로서 세종시의 도약을 위한 기반 마련에도 중점을 두겠다”고 덧붙였다.
세종시의회는 각 상임위원회를 중심으로 현장 활동을 강화하며 산업·교육·도시재생 등 다양한 분야의 현안 대응에 나서고 있다.
예를 들어 산업건설위원회는 아산 신정호와 전동면 솔티마을을 방문해 지역활성화 및 식품안전 개선방안을 논의했으며, 교육안전위원회는 평생교육 진흥 간담회를 통해 현장 의견을 수렴했다.
또한 세종시의회는 예산심사 실전교육, 정책연구모임 운영, 도시재생시설 탐방 등 의원·직원 역량 강화에도 힘을 쏟고 있다.
임 의장은 “전문성과 실무 역량을 높이는 동시에 시민 의견이 의정에 반영되도록 현장 중심 의정활동을 이어가겠다”고 말했다.
한편, 이번 회기에서는 시정연설과 함께 의원 자유발언, 긴급현안질문이 연이어 예정돼 있으며, 12월 15일 제4차 본회의에서 내년도 예산안과 기금운용계획안이 최종 의결될 예정이다.
