브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 현대자동차그룹은 11일 평택시청에서 현대차그룹 켄 라미레즈 에너지&수소사업본부장 부사장, 정장선 평택시장, 도경식 평택지방해양수산청 청장, 김금규 경기평택항만공사 사장 직무대행 등 주요 관계자들이 참석한 가운데 ‘탄소중립 수소항만 구축을 위한 업무협약(MOU)’을 체결했다고 밝혔다.
이번 업무협약은 현대차, 기아, 현대글로비스와 평택시, 경기평택항만공사, 평택지방해양수상청이 탄소중립에 대한 공감대를 바탕으로 평택항을 탄소중립 친환경 그린수소 항만으로 조성, 국가 수소 생태계 구축에 기여하기 위해 이뤄졌다.
구체적으로 현대차그룹과 평택시 등은 △평택항 기아·현대글로비스 사업장 내 수소 연료전지(FC) 발전기 도입을 위한 기술 개발 및 사업 진행 △평택항 일대 수소 생산·공급 인프라 구축 △수소 항만장비 및 트럭, 수소 충전소, 수소·암모니아 벙커링 등 친환경 항만 전환에 관한 지원 △평택항의 친환경 항만 전환과 관련된 협약 기관들이 참여하는 협의체 운영 등 다양한 영역에서 협력해 나갈 예정이다.
또한, 평택항 인근의 수소 생산 단지를 활용해 안정적인 친환경 전력 공급 구조를 구축하고, 그린 암모니아 수입을 통한 친환경 그린수소 공급망 확장 및 AMP(육상전력장치) 등 수소 활용 어플리케이션 확대 도입을 추진해 수소 생태계를 선도하기 위한 안정성과 경제성을 확보할 계획이다.
협력 과정에서 △현대차는 수소 관련 사업 총괄 △기아와 현대글로비스는 수소 어플리케이션의 도입 및 운영 △평택시는 수소 생산 및 배관 인프라 등 수소 도시 구축 관련 제반 사항 △평택지방해양수산청은 인허가 지원 및 시행 세칙 개선 등 △경기평택항만공사는 각종 규제 개선 등을 각각 담당하게 된다.
이를 통해 현대차그룹과 평택시 등은 평택항을 친환경 그린수소 항만으로 조성하고, 평택항을 기반으로 녹색 해운 항로의 기틀을 다질 계획이다.

한편, 평택시는 1기 수소도시로 선정된 이후 2023년부터 평택항 인근 수소 생산 단지에서 경기경제자유구역(포승지구)까지 약 15km에 이르는 대규모 수소 배관 구축을 계획하고 있으며, 수소 항만장비 등 수소 수요처 추가 확보를 위한 기반을 마련하고자 적극 노력 중이다.
