【브레이크뉴스 영덕】박영재 기자=영덕군은 지역의 소중한 문화유산인 ‘봉수 유적’의 역사적·문화적 가치를 재조명하기 위해 26일 오후 2시 영덕 무형유산 전수관에서 학술 세미나를 개최한다.

올해 세미나의 주제는 ‘봉수 유적’으로, 지난 7월 ‘광산 봉수’가 경상북도 기념물로 신규 지정되는 등 영덕군의 봉수 유적은 국가유산으로서 가치를 인정받고 있다. 특히 경상북도가 기념물로 지정한 2건의 봉수 유적이 모두 영덕군에 위치해 있어 도내 봉수 유적 보존과 관리에 있어 영덕군의 역할이 더욱 중요해진 상황이다.
이번 세미나는 ‘영덕 지역 봉수의 가치와 지역 정체성’을 대주제로 △영덕 봉수 현황과 과제 △조선시대 동해안 봉수 노선의 변화와 특징 △영덕 봉수와 읍·진성 및 역원 간 신호전달 여부 △영덕 봉수의 문화유산적 가치와 지역 정체성 등 다양한 발표와 논의를 통해 영덕 봉수의 역사적 의미와 건축 특성을 심층적으로 다룰 예정이다.
영덕군은 그동안 추진해 온 학술 조사·연구 성과를 공개·공유함으로써 지역 역사문화 유산에 대한 관심을 높이고 보존 의지를 모으는 계기가 될 것으로 기대하고 있다.
김광열 영덕군수는 “영덕군은 역사적으로 중요한 위인들을 배출하고 가치 높은 유적을 다수 보유한 역사·문화 도시”라며 “이번 세미나를 통해 지역의 역사·문화 유산의 가치를 체계적으로 발굴하고 재조명해 군민들이 자부심을 갖고 공유·활용할 수 있기를 바란다”고 말했다.
한편, 영덕군은 지역의 역사·문화 유산을 체계적으로 발굴하고 널리 알리기 위해 2023년부터 학술 세미나를 매년 개최하고 있다.

These include: 1) the current status and challenges of Yeongdeok's beacons; 2) the changes and characteristics of the Joseon Dynasty's east coast beacon routes; 3) signal transmission between Yeongdeok's beacons and towns, Jinseong, and post stations; and 4) the cultural heritage value of Yeongdeok's beacons and regional identity.
Yeongdeok County hopes that by sharing and disclosing the results of its ongoing academic research and investigations, it will foster interest in the region's historical and cultural heritage and foster a commitment to its preservation.
Yeongdeok County Mayor Kim Gwang-yeol stated, "Yeongdeok County is a historical and cultural city that has produced many historically significant figures and possesses numerous valuable historical sites. I hope this seminar will systematically uncover and highlight the value of the region's historical and cultural heritage, enabling residents to share and utilize it with pride."
Meanwhile, Yeongdeok County has been holding academic seminars annually since 2023 to systematically uncover and promote the region's historical and cultural heritage.
